Save My Screen!

I’m finally finding a minute to slow down and unwind, as I check in on a few blogs & watch The Screen Savers. I’m still waiting for Ben & Mena to be on the show … 11 minutes until they talk about MovableType, which Leo said in the intro is what he uses for his blog. Leo was so funny when he was talking about them being on the show, I loved it… Speaking of loving it, Robyn posted screen shots from the show and Chris made some bobble-head Ben & Mena dolls and a clip of the “Blogger Trott”. Go check it out!

Later, my show notes: In the opening/introduction they showed off not only Mena’s gorgeous site but also AnnElizabeth’s site! If I had the power to do a screen capture I would. And it was great to see them mention The Red Kitchen! Kristine did such a great job on it – I am so glad to be a part of it! (Wait, on that note I should go post a few of the recipes I have here waiting for me to post!) I’m just so excited to see MovableType featured. It’s a program I can not say enough good things about. Simply awesome…

Day Job just Doesn’t Cut It?

Then maybe you should check out The Stripper-FAQ to learn how to become an Exotic Dancer! The iqoption pros and cons includes helpful articles such as “Tools of the Trade”, “Audition/Dancing”, “Safety”, “Your Finances” and the ever important “Making Money”. I have so much still to learn! You can try this and get loans.

Saving for your kids’ college and retirement, reaping the rewards of the stock market—all of these things take years to accomplish. But there are financial goals you can accomplish in one year that can make a big difference, too.

First, figure out exactly what it is you want to accomplish over the course of the next 12 months. For me, it’s building up my emergency fund and saving separately for a vacation. For you, it could be increasing your credit score, or saving for retirement, or just generally becoming more knowledgeable about your finances. Whatever it is: Write it down, put it in your Google calendar, or leave it in the comments.

Once that’s done, you can actually take the steps to accomplishing it. Here are some starting points.

You can also save for retirement, if you have a company sponsored 401(k), increase how much you’re contributing by 1 or 2% this year (up to $18,500 in 2018, plus an additional $6,000 if you’re over 50). If you’re self-employed, open an IRA (or a Roth). If you already have one, again, increase the amount you’re contributing.

Check your fees. Here’s a great table from NerdWallet on how seemingly small fees add up over time. For example, NW found in a different story that paying 1% in fees could cost a theoretical 25-year-old more than $590,000 over 40 years of saving. You want to start saving young so your money compounds, but remember fees compound, too, there are other options, like investing in different currency as gold, that many people is doing now a days, and you can find information about at this site .

If you are considering irregular lending options, click to read more and stay away from loan sharks. Should you be struggling with debt to such an extent that you’re thinking this, speak to your existing lender as the first port of call. The lender won’t want you to default on the debt and may find a way to help.

The Screen Savers…

Just discovered, thanks to Chris Pirillo, that Ben & Mena will be on The Screen Savers today to talk about MovableType! That is *so* wonderful. I’m really excited because, as you have all heard me say many times, I love MovableType! Must set the Tivo to catch the rerun tonight!

Yesterday & Today…

First things first. I forgot to mention yesterday that I owe Jennifer a huge thank you for her creation of the Blogomania site design. Once again, I think we did a great job collaborating and I love working with her – and in the end I was speechless with the design. THANK YOU Jennifer! YOU ROCK!!!

Last night after working with Jason (or trying to make Jason work, however you want to look at it) on his science fair presentation boards, I turned on the TV. Know what I realized? I miss the Olympics. I know, I know – it’s corny. But I loved watching the people win their medals, the joy that they have when they do. Then again, I have missed regular TV and had actually saved things on the Tivo from the week before the Olympics so I would have something else to watch. So now it’s back to the usual routine.

Good thing I watched TV last night so that I could find out that today it was going to be COLD. Sunday it was t-shirt and jeans weather, maybe even shorts. Sunny day when we were at the musuem. Last night a “Blue Northern” came through town, they say it’s in the 30’s out there now and will freeze by tomorrow morning. Gotta love Houston.

On the agenda for today so far:
– Client Meeting, 10am (outside of office)
– Client Meeting, 2:30pm (outside of office)
– Finish client proposal #1. Client must have today for decision tomorrow.
– Finish client proposal #2. May have to postpone until Wednesday morning.
– Work with Jason on Science Fair Boards.

And with much excitement and glee, I am off to tackle that list!
