Mmm… Muffins!

Liz has set up a new site for her candles and it’s great! If you like good smelling candles that are cute too, head on over to Cinnamuffin Candle Company! Her candles are to die for!

If soap and lotion is more your thing, you can find something you’ll love over at my site, Sudsalicious Bodyworks! If there is a scent you want that you don’t see listed, let me know. Among the zillions of scents I have, I probably have just what you are looking for!

Can someone please contact all of the major television networks and tell them that we’ve got enough reality TV shows? Please? Because if I have to see another commercial for “I’m a Celebrity, Get me out of Here!” I’m going to scream. And the ending of Joe Millionaire, for those of us that didn’t watch the show itself, was lame. Enough – enough already! I mean really, who needs reality shows when we’ve got blogs to read?

Friday Finds…

I discovered this last night that it’s not wise to listen to the Stephen Lynch CD while driving home from work. He has a song on there about Dungeons & Dragons that had me laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. Not wise, not wise at all. (You can’t listen to the D&D song on his site, but “Dr. Stephen” and the “Best Friends Song” are available there and they are great too!) I think I’ll stick to the Bee Gees and Barry Manilow for my morning commute.

It’s been a long time since I’ve shared my Fresh Friday Finds with you – so here they are. Sites that may not be new to you, but they are new to me…
:: Nathair.com – Reb’s photographs are simply breathtaking. Looking through them makes me want to snag my camera and go on a photo hunt! (Rebecca’s other blog is here and it’s a great read!)
:: Apparently Nothing – If Reb’s photos don’t make you want to take pictures, these definitely will! I absolutely love this site!
:: Brookelyn.org – Words and photographs meld together to make a perfect site.

There is one other that I want to mention. It is definitely not new to me, but I find something wonderful every time I visit – so if you’re not reading his site you should be. It is Photojunkie! In just a few weeks I will meet Rannie in person at SXSW, and I can’t WAIT!

Speaking of Rannie, the voting in the Photobloggies closes today. Go vote. Hopefully you’ll find inspiration among all these links. I know I have!

You CAN Help Find a Cure…

Kymberlie posted recently about how you can help find a cure for cancer, and it made me realize I don’t think I’ve ever posted about this – and I’ve meant to for some time.

My friend EJ lost his Dad to cancer last August, and in his memory he has asked that people sign up to be a part of Grid.org where you CAN help make a difference. You volunteer your PC to help accelerate grand-scale research, and that’s it. EJ shares a lot more information on how it works here.

Keeping the Peace…

When it comes to the Nobel Peace Prize, “Thousands of people around the world have the right to make nominations, including members of all national parliaments, members of international law courts, professors of history, social science, philosophy and theology and former winners.” So, who was it that nominated Bono? Simply Captivated…

You can tell that I’ve worked in short buildings for way too long. After 2 years in buildings less than 6 floors tall, I immediately noticed the small TV monitors in the elevators in some of the buildings in downtown Houston. The first building I noticed them in had CNN or MSNBC showing on them. I thought at first that it seemed like it was a bit much, and ironic that we need entertainment in an elevator.

Now I work on the 34th floor of an almost 50 floor building, and I’m hooked. It is like crack for office workers. Instead of CNN we have Captivate, which flashes random blurbs up on the screen. When I get in the elevator, I have to position myself so that I can see the screen. I never know what random tidbit will be next – did you know that Styx released a new album today? I was stunned. I had no idea that they were even still performing.

Is it just me? Do you work in an office building that has tv monitors in your elevator? Do you think they are just a waste, or are you a tidbit junkie too?
