I see all these people floating through my personal blogosphere, but no one is stopping to say hi. Come on people, say something. Anything. I’d even take some troll comments right about now. Amuse me. Make me smile. Say something. Anything.

I Knew it Wouldn’t Last…

I knew the fantastic commute I had yesterday was a one time thing – that’s why I had to write about it, to document that such a thing can exist. My drive today consisted of someone pulling in front of me and then slowing down, a large truck trying to pull on to a small road while the rest of us waited, construction crews stopping the car in front of me (so close!) while they used a crane to move a piece of equipment on to a semi, and another idiot cutting me off and driving 40 mph while chatting away on his cell phone. If you need to talk on a cell phone while you drive, get a headpiece thing for it – don’t hold the phone up to your head.

Oh yes, and all of this was within 3 miles of my apartment – just to set the tone for the rest of the drive.

Making it Right Again…

To counter the actions of the Southern Baptist Convention, Fundamentalists launch “Christian Pornography Network”. “Right wing religious foundation “The Church of the Christian Ejaculation” confirmed today that it was launching a television network of pornography.” Now that is funny! The perfect anticdote to the real news. [via Geek Muffin]

We’ll Fix You Right Up!

Channel 11 News is on. They just finished a segment about the fact that Canada is considering laws that will make same-sex marriages legal. Next up? A blurb about the Southern Baptist Convention. The Baptist are out with a new initiative tonight.

“It’s aimed at convincing gays that they CAN become Heterosexual if they accept Jesus Christ as their savior and reject what the Convention calls their sinful and destructive lifestyle.” They are encouraging churches nationwide to “compassionately reach out to gays with a message about how Christianity can save them…”

Ugh. I’m not sure if I should laugh or I should cry… Ok, I admit it. I laughed. And shook my head a lot. Uh huh, claiming Christ as your savior will make you straight! Riiiiiiighhhhht…

In case you want to enjoy this stuff live, the Southern Baptist Convention site has a webcast! I’m telling you, this stuff is so good, you couldn’t possibly make it up! I should also point out that you can get to know Jesus right on the Convention website. I’m not sure if you have to come out first before you are saved, but it’s worth a shot.

Disclaimer: I should add here that I am a Christian. I do not take the concept of being saved lightly. However, when people take religion to such extremes, it cracks me up. What you believe in is your choice. Professing your belief in Christ, however, is not going to make you a heterosexual.

Take One, Pass Them On…

Every once in awhile I see things that are worth noting, and I need to pass them on…

:: Courtney’s friend Joe was recently diagnosed with brain cancer. He is doing well and going through physical therapy. To help do her part, Coutney is going to participate in the Bay Area Angel Adventure for the National Brain Tumor Foundation this weekend. It’s a 5k walk to help raise funds, and Courtney’s goal is to raise $500 for the event in Joe’s name. Can you spare some change (or better yet, a few dollars?) and help her towards that goal?

:: Susan has been working hard as a Mary Kay consultant, and it’s great to see her strive to reach her goals. I’m waiting for the day she gets her red Grand Am! She sent me an e-mail earlier to let me know about the Mary Kay $10,000 sweepstakes! Whoo hoo! Really, who couldn’t use that? And all you have to do is visit her Mary Kay Personal Website and follow the “enter to win!” link. Bing, bang, boom. I’m all about the free money!
