We’re Not in Kansas Anymore…

We’re at Kaveh Kane’s. I don’t like coffee or tea. Or beer, which they also sell here. Mike offered to go over to Crazy Horse Cantina for me to get me a drink to go. I almost asked him to get me a margarita.

Oops. I guess we’re not in New Orleans anymore, where you can get the margaritas – or any drink, really – to go. Damn. And it sounded so good after reading about Dania’s Key Lime Pie.

Haul U-Haul Haul…

After a long day at work, Mike and I decided to meet at Josephine’s for dinner. Yummmm… As we finished eating, I noticed a gorgeous sunset was taking place on the edge of town – so he sent me off to chase it to hopefully get photos of it from the same place I took my last skyline photo. (I got some, I’ll post them soon.) We decided to go to Kaveh Kane’s afterwards to hang out. Yes, I’m sitting in a coffee shop on a Friday night, typing this.

I met up with him here after my photo shoot, and there was a man sitting over by the bar. I kept looking at him, over and over. I knew I knew who he was. I definitely recognized him, but I had no clue why. Who was he? Why did he look so familiar? Finally I overheard mention the Flying Fish Sailors. Mike and I looked at each other and said, “Oh! The Flying Fish Sailors!” We heard them last year at the Renaissance Festival and they were FANTASTIC!

Being the geek that I am, I had to go up and say hi and tell him about my confusion over not being able to figure out who he is. Turns out that he is the host of a radio talk show, and he invites all the fans out to Kaveh Kane’s once a month to hang out. We just so happened to hit fan night.

Good food at Josephine’s and now this … this night is really making up for the day I had! Now I want a copy of their CD so hopefully I can get this Haul U-Haul Hual song out of my head… (Psst… you DVN fans will probably love these guys!)

H-Town Meets Beantown!

The time is coming for my annual trip to Boston. Last year, I got to meet up with some of the locals, but not everyone – there simply wasn’t enough time. This year, I’m going to follow in Jish’s footsteps and organize a gathering of Beantown bloggers so that we can have a chance to meet everyone.

The plan is to meet in Harvard Square for dinner and drinks. I’m open to suggestions of locations – someplace easy to find, near the T would be good. Please leave me a comment if you haven’t already so I can add you to my list of people to invite. I am also taking a survey:

Would you be more likely to attend if it was on Friday, August 1 or on Monday, August 4?

(If you are not in Boston, or do not plan to be in Boston that weekend, this question does not apply to you. *grin*)

Rerun Thought…

“I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.”

Found in my archives from two years ago today, and all so appropriate to repeat after the day I’ve had today! But you know what? It’s FRIDAY! Whoo hoooooo!

Mean Modem!

Know what sucks? When your cable modem won’t let you connect to the Internet. I don’t know if the cable was out or if the modem was just being mean, but either way – I couldn’t get online last night. I did my very first Theme Thursday photo (which really turned out great) and I couldn’t get online to post it. I caught up on TAR, and I couldn’t blog about it. How frustrating!

I’m mad at Phil, the host of TAR, by the way. He started off last night’s episode with “who will be eliminated next?” Normally the cue that it is a non-elimination round. I went back and watched the opening of last week’s episode, and sure enough he said “who will be eliminated tonight?” so I was all set. I kept yelling at the teams, “it’s ok! You won’t be eliminated!” Then, 10 minutes before the show ended, they opened the final clues, with the note that the last team to arrive would be eliminated. Damn it!

Someone did a search and found my site looking for “reichen and chip” divorce. No! Say it isn’t so!

By the way, being offline also prevented me from answering the e-mail that has been piling up since I went to New Orleans. If I owe you an e-mail, I will write … soon! I have a lot of people to write, but I will get to everyone. Promise.
