Sprint Sucks!

Mike & I were discussing today how much we hate Sprint (mainly because there is no signal at my house), and that we would like to switch to Cingular. Looking at phones, our main choices were the Ericsson T616 or the Nokia 3600. The Nokia takes slightly better photos and allows you to expand the memory with a memory card, but it is big, bulky, and has the funky round dial. Oh, and it costs $150 more. The Ericsson has a “joystick” nub thing that I found hard to use at first, and the number keys are a little smaller, but it’s $150 less then the Nokia. Feedback on either phone? Anyone have moblog photos from the Ericsson that I can check out?

(Yeah, I’m all about the feedback tonight. It could be worse – I could be complaining again about swollen glands and my sore throat again…)

Cafe Press?

I know that a lot of people out there have used Cafe Press for a variety of things – I’ve even had a “store,” Big Pink Cookie Goods, set up for some time. I just discovered all of the postcard and calendar options, and I’m curious – has anyone ordered from them before? How do things like mousepads or greeting cards come out? Are they any good? Have you ever bought anything from Cafe Press? Were you satisfied with what you got – or not?

I’ve always thought it would be cool to have greeting cards or postcards done with my own photos – but I would love feedback on the quality. If there were Pixelog prints available, would you buy them? Or would you prefer to just buy regular photographic prints?

All of these random thoughts started up because Derek has created an amazing Calendar and I’m feeling inspired…

Who Needs a Doctor?

Who needs a doctor when we have WebMD? Remember how I keep saying that I have no other symptoms other than a sore throat and a fever? Yeahhhh… seems that one of the signs you have Strep Throat is that it does “not occur with coldlike symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, or a runny or stuffy nose. In general, the more coldlike symptoms you have, the less likely it is that your sore throat is a strep infection.”

I have no coldlike symptoms. None. However, I do have a sore throat that started sudden and severe.

Oh … fun.

Hot, Hot, Hot!

A few weeks ago I had tried to call my general doctor of many years, and his office number no longer worked. I tried the new number I was given, but it was for a practice that didn’t list his name. I ended up seeing a cardiovascular doctor instead, so I didn’t pursue it any further.

Yesterday, I decided to try his number again. I called the new number and went through to the answering service. Turns out he is part of that practice now, and they called in a prescription for an antibiotic for me. Yeah! Meds!

However, the lumps in the back of my throat aren’t getting any better. I have a feeling that I have a few hours in my doctor’s office tomorrow morning ahead of me.

I woke up around 1:30 last night to go to the bathroom, and I realized that I felt really hot. I took my temperature and it was 101.1. I don’t think I’ve ever had a temp over 100.6 or so. Not only does my temp run low normally, but I rarely get a fever. 101.1?!? Damn!

Have you ever seen the commercial for the Excedrin that the woman takes without water while chasing her toddler around the house? I always wondered why you would ever need those. Any time I’ve ever needed an Excedrin, there has always been water nearby. Fortunately, my Dad received a sample package of them a few months ago and he passed them on to me. After taking my temp last night, I finally read the package. They dissolve in your mouth. Dissolve! In your mouth! You don’t have to swallow whole pills! Now I know when you need them – when the thought of swallowing a pill is simply agonizing because your throat is all lumpy! Now my fever is down somewhat, but the lumps aren’t. Other than a sore throat, I feel fine. A little achy, and I can’t push myself to do too much, but otherwise fine.

I’m bummed that I missed Chuck & Tiffany’s party last night – and the big news! (Congratulations!) And I missed Elaine’s birthday party. Whatever is causing this sore throat is not a gift I would want to give to anyone this holiday season, so it’s probably for the best.

By the way – “Down With Love” is a *great* movie to watch when you’re sick. I just love that movie!

I’ve Got the Fever…

Went to bed last night freezing cold; woke up at least 5 times that I can remember, and at one point decided I was just too hot so I got rid of the socks and sweatshirt I was wearing. Woke up this morning with no blankets on me, enjoying the cool air. I had hoped that my fever had broken during the night. It didn’t. It’s now 99.9 (it was 99.8 when I went to bed) and my “normal” is 97.9. Needless to say, I feel like hell.

I don’t think it’s the flu though. I went to take some Excedrin for my killer headache, and realized I could barely swallow. I got out the flashlight so I could play doctor, and if I didn’t know better – I would swear I had tonsellitis. However, they were removed back when I was in junior high!

I think it’s time to find a doctor that’s open on Saturdays…
