Wednesday’s mail!

I love getting presents in the mail! Caro sent me a fabulous, adorable wristlet that matches my business card holder that she gave me in July when I went to see the Yarn Harlot. It is the perfect color combination with brown and blue, and it is lined with the cutest fabric. She also sent me “P” and “S” stitch markers for Pointy Sticks! (Going out tonight, the laptop is set up and ready!) She even made the card, which is so cool. I love it all!

I was just thinking yesterday that now that I’m using a rolling backpack on Monday & Wednesday when I have Organic Chem and a ton of books, and a regular backpack on Tuesday & Thursday when I have Trig and Self-Awareness Psychology (but only one book to carry around) that I should find some small purse thing to use so I could easily transfer from bag to bag. Then I got home and there was one waiting for me in the mail. Perfect timing!

The construction is perfect – granted, I can’t sew, but my mother is fantastic at it and has trained me to have a good eye for the details. The fabric is just the right weight, which makes them really nice. The wristlet is great, and I love my card holder so much – I can’t say enough good things about Caro’s goodies. You can get some too at her Etsy store. They are fabulous!

Thank you, Caro! I loooooooove it! Mwah!

About the Kid & Ewe…

I just realized that there are like 3-4 posts that I thought I had made about different events that I never made. Eep!

Katy Blogless & I have been planning for months to head on over for Kid & Ewe in Boerne, Texas again this year, hopefully with Amy & Kelly in tow and meeting up with Staci. Anyone else in Houston want to come along? After all the fun of the lunch after seeing the Harlot this summer, Julia and I decided that another lunch meet-up in Boerne would be a ton of fun! So Julia contacted the event organizers and they have promised us a place to lunch and tables to use. How cool is that?

Saturday, November 11, 2006 – come join us in Boerne, Texas for Knitbloggerfest 2006! Sure, it isn’t Maryland Sheep & Wool, and it isn’t Rhinebeck, but it is a lot of fun, and there is fiber there to enjoy! Bring a dish for the potluck or a sack lunch for yourself (whatever you prefer) and join us for lunch! Be sure to add yourself to the wiki to let us know if you will be there and what you plan to bring if you’re going to bring a dish. All the details will be at the wiki, so keep an eye on it.

I pointed out to Lion Brand through the form on their site that Kid & Ewe was not listed as an event. I just got the e-mail tonight that they have added it to the list – Calendar of Knitting and Crochet Events. How cool is that? It never hurts to ask about these things.

A Good Time for Spell-Check…

While driving home today, I saw a truck with a sticker on the back window that read:

B.I.T.C.H.
Beautiful, Intelligent,
Tattooed, Charming and
HORNEY

Nice. If you’re going to announce to the world that you are horny, you might want to at least spell it correctly!

Unless she is maybe a follower of Karen Horney, the neo-Freudian. Do you think that could have been what she meant?

Artistic Beauty…

Beauty

What a whirlwind weekend we have had. I had the speech in the middle of the afternoon on Friday, which was quite inconvenient. I sucked, and I could tell I lost what few listeners I had half-way through. Considering the fact that I could barely find time or motivation to practice, it isn’t surprising. Oh well, I now say I’ve been there, done that and gotten the t-shirt. Literally. I got a free conference t-shirt just for presenting. Whoo hoo.

Saturday we cleaned, and that was good. We put a rug down in the living room last weekend after Mike & Jason put together our new coffee table and end tables. (Target – I couldn’t find any that I loved for the room at Ikea.) Tara, Elaine & Kenny came over for dinner Saturday night, and since Tara & Elaine both have cat allergies we vacuumed a lot. I sorted through old, lingering mail. I dusted. All of those exciting things. Dinner was fabulous, enhanced by the great company.

Tara spent the night, so we kicked off today by heading over to Ihop. Mmmm… pancakes. We spent the afternoon lounging, and I am all caught up on Project Runway now. We laughed about Uli’s whole “I love hot weather, I am from Miami, it will be a flowing dress with bold prints!” thing. Every.Single.Time. I still think Jeffrey’s latest creation sucked, but whatever. I’m looking forward to the finale now. Mike made us steaks for dinner as a birthday treat, and they were delicious. Now, it is on to Organic Chemistry and it starts all over again.

I get to find out tomorrow or Tuesday if Mike is going back to London this week. Seriously, it might be that last minute. I think he thinks it won’t happen, but I’m not sure. I’ll believe it when I see him here all week. October will see him travelling a lot, which is just weird. In the whole time I have known him, he has never travelled this much. Before it was unusual for him to travel more than once every 6 months; now it this will be his 4th trip overseas this year. I’m ok with it though – I would love to take Jason to London for Spring Break, so bring on the airline miles!
