Let Us Blog!

Meryl doesn’t have permalinks in her archives from December 2001, but when I saw the link in my sidebar about my post on this day last year about this, I just had to go and find it! So here it is … Meryl’s very own:

Let Us Blog

Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the monitor is so delightful
And since we’ve no place to jog
Let Us Blog! Let Us Blog! Let Us Blog!

Net doesn’t show signs of stopping
And I’ve gone to Amazon for shopping
We pray that the Net doesn’t clog
Let Us Blog! Let Us Blog! Let Us Blog!

We finally sign out for the night
How I hate going away from the keyboard!
But if you’ll email me lots tonight
Then in the morning I won’t be bored!

The fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we’re still IM’ing
But as long as you have some grog
Let Us Blog! Let Us Blog! Let Us Blog!

A Chance to Breath…

I feel like I have been going non-stop all week long. Well, basically I have been thanks to soap orders, temp work, and Christmas. Last night we had dinner at Robert’s house and a delightful gift exchange. I got to sit on Santa Robert’s lap while I opened my gift – “The Bad Girl’s Guide to Getting What you Want” and “The Bad Girl’s Guide to The Open Road”! Thanks Elaine! These books are GREAT! I can’t stop laughing.

Then EJ clued me in on how to find all the good FREE ringtones for my Sprint PCS phone! He also showed me where to go to upload photos so I could download them back to my phone and use them as the pictures that display when someone calls. Soon I will have a photo for everyone! I am going to set up special ringtones too – so when Kathy calls it will play the “90210” theme. Chelsey is getting “Mission Impossible”.

As much as I love my Sprint PCS phone, I think it’s a huge rip-off that with the Vision plan you don’t get free ringtones and screensavers. The tones are $1 – $2 each, and only last for 90 days! The games all cost money too – a bit differently then they lead you to believe!

It’s so addictive playing with the phone and all the ringers now that I must have spent at least an hour messing with it this morning too! But I found the best web browser – it lets me view ANY web site on my phone! It even displays the graphics and resizes them to fit the phone screen. Sure, some sites are slow, but I can see them! If you have a basic version of your blog – like my stripped page – please leave a comment and let me know the URL! I would love to be able to at least read some blogs during the day when I don’t have computer access!

Today I’ve spent cleaning and relaxing! Ahhhhh… it’s nice to finally have some time at home. Tonight Mike is coming over so that we can exchange gifts. We might go to see “Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers”, depending on how the lines are at the theater. If it’s too crazy then we will watch Christmas specials on DVD at home. Either way, we are also going out to look at the Christmas lights in Prestonwood, a nearby subdivision. The entire subdivision decorates – it’s mandatory if you live there – and the lights are just gorgeous! I can’t wait!

The Christmas cards aren’t done. My kitchen isn’t as clean as I wish it was. We won’t even talk about the dining room. But … I get to spend time with people that I love, and that is what matters the most!

Do You Hear What I Hear?

Don’t tell him that I told you, but I caught Mike humming along and snapping his fingers to my Kenny G. “Miracles” Christmas CD. First shock was that he suggested that I put it – or another holiday one – in the CD player. But then … he was humming along! I saw him do it! *SO* busted!

Meanwhile, my lights are finally on my Christmas tree, and he gets all of the credit for it. Saturday I will put the ornaments on. My holiday spirit level is on a steady increase, and this is truly a good thing. I still have to finish my Christmas cards though – so if you’re waiting for one, it will probably be late. Sorry about that!

Kymberlie stopping by to pick up her ZipZap for her brother and dropping off wonderful Christmas presents for me – a copy of “The Freshman” and a grilled sandwich maker – also helped to get me in to the holiday groove. It was wonderful to get a chance to see her!

To top it all off, I put up my Mom’s Nativity set. It’s the one they had while I was growing up. I remember playing with the animals and making sure everything was arranged just right in the stable. I used to think that the wise men should be far away and move closer after Christmas, but not arrive at the scene until January 6th – Epiphany – yes, the 12th day of Christmas. Putting it up at my house brought back a lot of childhood memories – and in the end, isn’t Christmas all about the memories? Now the holidays have finally arrived for me.

Picture Yourself!

Look! Look! Picture Yourself has made it in to the New York Times! (subscription required. Get one, it’s free.) The NY Times! The NY Times, baby!

Wow. It’s amazing to see it there… I’m speechless! Wow! Thank you again to everyone that has helped to make the site a huge success – without all of your support and your photographs, it just wouldn’t be the same!

Need That Holiday Spirit?

My holiday spirit has gone up a great deal today, but more about that later. Meanwhile, if the holidays have got you down, maybe it’s time for you to visit Santa over at Ho Ho Holy Shit! [via Michele – I’m just late in sharing it!]
