Before I Go…

The rest of the photos from Galveston are in the Pixelog. Now I’m really tempted to hop in the car and drive down there right now to take more!

Driving in Texas is a very different concept than driving in New England or most other parts of the country. Around here, we don’t think twice about an almost 2 hour drive to Galveston, staying there for most of the day, and then driving back home. To a lot of people, a drive like that would mean a weekend roadtrip where you would stay there overnight. I guess that’s what happens when everything is far away from where you are!

True True! I’m from Iowa originally — used to those out-of-the-way trips. So a trip to Maine from Connecticut on a Sunday doesn’t seem like much to me.

Happy belated birthday, scent sista! ;o)

christine – i know i owe you a long-ass e-mail, but i wanted you to know that something is causing your site (as well as kristine’s) to load super-duper slow. i’m on DSL, so its not my connection; could it be the blogroll or something? just thought you should know…

I don’t know…we often drive up to Portland, Maine, for a Sea Dogs game, just for the day. That’s two hours away from Boston. We also like to go up to Freeport (home of L.L. Bean) just for a day…that’s about 15 minutes or so north of Portland.

But we do it so often that we are used to it. However, there are times when we spend the night. Next weekend the Sea Dogs tickets go on sale, and we plan to stay ovenight in York Beach (about halfway between Boston and Portland). This is mostly so we can stay with Dan (the owner of the B&B where we got married, he was also our JP), one last time before he shuts down for the season.

Also, we’re going to a Brewers Festival in Portland in November. We booked a hotel room in walking distance of the event for that night, but this is more for safety reasons…we didn’t want to worry about drunk driving.

Once we’re out of the city, I enjoy driving, so it’s no big deal to me!

Also…happy belated birthday! 🙂
