I’ll admit it – I feel guilty that I’m here in Austin and not over in Houston right now with the rest of my family and friends. Well, the friends that didn’t leave, since many of them are in Austin and surrounding cities already. Instead of waiting out the storm, we went to Whole Foods in Austin, which was a beautiful place, and now I have some brie and crackers, along with some very beautiful strawberries, waiting for me to eat later. (Really, how many commas can I put in one sentence?) It makes up for the fact that I ate string cheese and Club crackers for dinner last night.
If you want to keep an eye on the weater, you can watch here or check out the Chronicle for updates. I’ve talked with my parents and they are doing fine, although my Mom really wishes she wasn’t there. Kymberlie called and let me hear the wind outside her house. I think the fact that it is coming through at night would freak me out even more, since I wouldn’t be able to see what is going on out there.
Hang on tight, everyone. It looks like you might be in for quite a ride.

Actually, it looks like we are going to miss most of the bad stuff! I don’t think Spring is going to get much at all now after seeing the latest weather update.
I agree…it is pretty quiet outside. I am not at all upset that we may have gotten ready for “this Rita party” and get off Scott free. Wish us luck!

Feeling a little guilty too, watching from the safety and comfort of a friends’ house in Witchita. But not that guilty.
Getting out is the right thing to do. Especially with kids. Let the young single folk do all the hotdogging.
Your veggie pic was gorgeous-I love Whole Foods. Glad you got out of Dodge with no troubles, and good luck to your home!
Just checking in — so glad to know you’re okay!
Girl – Don’t feel guilty. We’re all where we are for a reason, even if we don’t know what the reason is.
No need to feel guilty. Dude, we’ve had worse storms that weren’t hurricanes. I kept wondering when the electricity would go out and it never did.
we got nothing here where i live, which is off I-10/Dairy Ashford. we lost power for 30 minutes, but that was around 6:45-7:15 and daylight was already trying to peek through. thank goodness we didn’t get anything. now i’m just watching the news to see all the people trying to come back home. you better take your time, Christine! it’s going to get jammed packed yet again.
whole foods market is my FAVORITE part about going to SXSW in austin! i mean, SXSW was fun and all.. but their whole foods market is food heaven!
