That’s a Good Question…

I was a slacker yesterday and only went through my critical e-mail, leaving the mailing lists, spam, and all the other goodies for this morning. As I went through them, there was one from Hotwire with the subject line of:

“Why aren’t you in Europe?”

Dude, that’s a good question. Anyone have a spare plane ticket?

Blurker?

Wondering what a Blurker is? Well, it’s a phrase that Mike & I helped to define back in 2002, shortly after we first met.

Blurker (BLUR-kur): n. 1. One who reads many blogs but leaves no evidence of themselves such as comments behind; a silent observer of blogs. 2. One who reads many blogs but has no blog of their own; a blog-watcher or blog voyeur.

So if you want to increase your traffic or meet new people – whatever works for you – then shake off the label and comment. I promise, we’re nice around here.

Not a Fool Day!

It’s March 1st. Already. What the hell happened to February? I mean, seriously. Where did it go? Zoom, February is gone. Now it’s March 1st, just one month until April Fool’s Day. Time for you to start planning your April Fool’s jokes if you’re that sort of person. I still remember the year that a bunch of us exchanged keys to our blogs and let each other post and people had to figure out which posts were real and which were fake. It was quite amusing; maybe we should do that again.

But today? Today I’m declaring a special day … don’t be a fool! Don’t blurk! Comment! Blurking is bad, commenting is good. It’s been too quiet on the internet lately, it’s time to come on out and play! As an added bonus, the last time I did this I discovered some pretty kick-ass blogs that I wouldn’t have found otherwise. Now I read them (and comment on them) every chance I get! So come on out and comment, it’s a Blurker Amnesty Day!

Props go to Sheryl who created the image for de-lurking day earlier this year. I couldn’t resist using it again. Blurking is a bad thing, and sometimes we all need a reminder to come on out and play.

(Honestly, I swear… this is not an attempt to procrastinate and put off work. Really. I promise. You believe me, right?)

By the way, it’s ok if you take advantage of blurker amnesty later this week, or even next week… I won’t mind!

What a Deal!

Tonight was the awards ceremony for our Scout troop. It is always a potluck dinner, and I think Jason got a bit wound up from it. I’m blaming the desserts.

On the way home, as we pulled into the gas station, I looked at him and asked, “WHAT is your DEAL?!??”

His response: “Buy one, get one free?”

*snort* I couldn’t even keep a straight face, I was laughing so hard.

Bribing Myself…

I love working for myself. Self-employment? Best thing since sliced bread or Tivo. But some days it is just hard to get things done. I see others that seem to just crank out work without effort, and I just don’t get it. How do they do it?

I have to bribe myself. Right now, I must finish coding a page (with CSS … my eyes are on the verge of bleeding) before I will let myself stop for lunch. I keep setting mini-goals like that. No knitting until I have today’s project done. But sometimes it is so hard. Especially when you’re trying to code with a grumbling tummy.
