No Wonder I’m Tired…

I’m sitting here on the comfy Ikea chair, feeling quite exhausted. I’m so tired. Why am I so tired? Oh, wait – I know why:

– Friday, I spent the whole day packing, packing and more packing. I have packed a ton of stuff so far with Mike’s help. Closing date is in 1 week, I’ll be moving within 2 weeks, and out of my apartment by March 25th. There is more packing in the near future.

– I took a break from packing to get some packing supplies and stopped to pick up “Scene It” at Wal-Mart to take to Emily’s house on Friday night.

– The game night at Emily’s on Friday was a blast! It was nice having the guys along for a change too. In attendance were Mike and Jason, Emily and KW (obviously), Ashley and Ralph, Kimberly, Kymberlie, Natalie, her husband Peter, her brother-in-law Adam, and the amazing and hysterically funny Sarah. Natalie & I were teamed up for Scene It and we WON! (Well, ok, Mike & Kimberly kicked everyone’s butt. But we won out of the rest of us, and it was a close race!) Kimberly and I got to spend some time talking about Mom things, and later Sarah gave me helpful hints on how to be a good Mom to a teenager. I’m not sure if I’m taking her up on the advice, but I will keep it in mind…

– Saturday we ran errands. I picked up some good Ray Bradbury books at Half Price Books for Jason & I to read – I’ve missed a bunch of them, and after I fell in love with Fahrenheit 451, I want to read them all. After lunch we went to Bed, Bath & Beyond so that Mike & I could register for gifts. Then it was over to Dillards to pick out a china pattern (Lenox Federal Platinum), then off to Williams-Sonoma to look for some things that Mike needed. While we were there, we picked up 3-4 items that we would have wanted to add to a registry – so we set up an appointment to register there too.

– This morning we went back to Williams-Sonoma to set up the registry. They actually let us in before they opened so that we had the store all to ourselves – how cool is that? The registry experience has been fun – we pretty much want the same things, with just a few minor differences. Mainly because I prefer to bake over cooking, and there are more gadget items that Mike wants.

– Last but not least, we found a store that carried the wedding band that we were looking for for my ring! It is technically a three-stone anniversary ring, so there wasn’t a matching band. Helzberg didn’t carry a “flat” band like I wanted, and they said they couldn’t order one or have their jeweler make one. So after some hunting, we have finally found another store that can get one for us. Just a 2mm flat band – nothing that hard, but no one has them. Mike’s comfort fit band was less expensive there too, so we got them all at the same time. (In case you are wondering, here are examples of flat wedding bands.)

– The rest of today has been spent … doing nothing. I’m too tired to do anything else.

All in all, I had a great weekend. We got a lot of things done, and Mike, Jason & I had a great time in the process. The weather is wonderful, and I really don’t think I could ask for more…

Feel the Rhythm…

“If god is a DJ, life is a dance floor. Love is a rhythm. You are the music. You got what you’re given. It’s all how you use it.”

Doesn’t that just make you feel good? I snagged it from Su. Hopefully, if I post it here I will be able to find it again in the future.

Nothing Like a Good Book…

I didn’t make it to the pool today. Matter of fact, I didn’t make it out of my bedroom for most of the day. It was raining outside, and on days like today there is nothing quite like curling up in bed with a good book. I had read the first two chapters of The Da Vinci Code on Tuesday – but the chapters are pretty short so that only put me maybe twenty pages or so into the book. As of tonight, I am three-fourths of the way through it with only 100 pages left to go. It is impossible to put down, and I can’t help but devour it.

I’ve always believed in the Gnostic Gospels, and I believe many of the theories presented throughout. It’s fascinating to me to read them in the context of the book.

Soft Spring Breeze…

Another perk of working in an office that is in a house? Spring has arrived in Houston, so it is nice and warm outside. Instead of turning on the air conditioner, we have opened all the doors and windows are are just letting the breeze flow through.

By the way, spring in Houston is the same as summer temperatures for the rest of the country. It’s 77 degrees outside. Today is my last day temping here – I might just find myself poolside with a book for a little while tomorrow afternoon (inbetween packing boxes). Mmmm…

I Know That Man…

I finally got around to getting all the mail out of my mailbox. I’m really bad about leaving it there for days on end. Hey, who wants to get a bunch of bills? I keep forgetting that I am getting a lot of wedding information in too – so the box fills up fast. Oops! Fortunately, it didn’t get sent back to the post office for my box being full, and the goodies seemed to outnumber the bills for a change.

As I was sorting through the stack, I read the ad for Al’s Formal Wear. The tuxedos are on my “still to do” list, so I wanted to see if they were offering a good special. I was a bit surprised when I realized that the guy in the ad was Matthew of Bachelorette fame. It just seemed odd to see him looking at me with that vacant hollow look he could get sometimes. *shiver*

For a long time, I swore off reality TV, only allowing myself to watch The Amazing Race. Now I have watched a Bachelor and a Bachelorette finale (I didn’t watch the full season of either one), two seasons of Average Joe, The Apprentice, and I’m quickly becoming hooked on America’s Next Top Model. (The last one is all Emily’s fault.) It’s a bad addiction, I tell you… By the way, there’s an Addiction Campuses established by Barbara Theodosiou for those people who are in the midst of addiction.
