Time to Go…

I kept checking outside, only finding a flooded street until now. I think it’s finally down low enough that I can go, and I watched a car pass with minimal wave results. Meanwhile, while waiting I updated Pixelog and Picture Yourself, along with marking some other things off of my to do list. Now it’s time to finally head for downtown. Wish me luck!

(I won’t drive through any deep water – I promise. I will turn around if I have to, but I have to try.)

Michael, Row The Boat Ashore…

I can’t go to work. I’m literally trapped at home – the street in front of my apartment’s parking lot is completely flooded. I saw one car get through, but it was a larger sedan – I don’t feel up to having my Honda Civic float away today. Hopefully it will go down fast – it was raining pretty hard when I got up this morning, lots of thunder and lightening, but now it has slowed down to a drizzle. I just hope it stays that way – no one in Houston wants a repeat of June, 2001, when Hurricane Allison hit and we had 21 inches of rain in 24 hours. We need rain right now – but we don’t need it all on one day!

The game last night against the Orioles was probably one of the best I’ve ever seen at Minute Maid Park. Some of the innings were pretty slow, which is why there were several photos in the MoBlog, but other innings we kicked ass! Whooooo hoooo! Go Astros! Also, it’s the first game that I have ever been to in the past 10 years where I witnessed Biggio doing something worth seeing – he hit a home run. Normally, every game I’ve been to he strikes out or hits a line drive that is caught and he’s out by the time he hits first. The biggest highlight was Ensberg’s grand slam in the 8th inning. It was a sweet! Last night was a very, very good game.

Something Worth Talking About…

Before I forget to write about it – I do have something worth talking about. Derek’s latest story, “The Scar” over at Fray. I was in tears by the end – interesting to think about it both from the perspective of a child and a parent. Witold Riedel’s artwork was the perfect complement to Derek’s words, and his story about what he had to do to come up with the drawings for it should inspire the artist in all of us.

I laughed, I cried, it was wonderful. Enjoy.

Have You? It’s Ok to Admit It…

Have you ever written a post just so you could ping Weblogs.com because you knew you were going to be way too busy all day long to write anything of any great value? Huh? Have you? And just what does that say about me?

This post inspired by J-Mo, who pontificates on profound things such as Cornnuts. Oh, and her birthday is tomorrow too…

I Promise…

Scott made a good point in my comments earlier. The political parties (both sides) “have us right where they want us.” It’s true. I guess I am feeling very cynical of politicians in general after watching them say one thing and do another.

I promise, I will not attempt to write in the future any posts that even sound close to me being a war blogger. I will probably still rant about government idiots, but that’s a whole different story.

Speaking of which, I haven’t mentioned it recently, but did you know that there is a whole uproar over how they went about looking for the “Killer D’s” when the Democrats walked out of the Texas Legislature a few weeks ago? Charles has been doing a great job of following all of it the past few weeks, from the scandal of the DPS shredding evidence to the debate over DeLay calling in Homeland Security measures that weren’t legitimate. They even sent the DPS to a hospital to check out the neonatal unit to see if one of the Democrats was there. Charles has a Killer D category set up to make it easy to follow along. It’s always a hoot around here!
