Maybe it’s just me, but I really think that this is taking things a bit too far. Tonight I went to the Hallmark website to check out their free e-card selection. I notice up in the “Upcoming Holidays” column the usual ones – Rosh Hashanah, Grandparent’s Day, National Boss Day. But the one that caught my eye? “Patriot Day – September 11”. I was confused for a brief moment. Patriot Day happens in Massachusetts, and it was back in the spring? Then it hits me – September 11th. Yes, I do think it’s a day when we should all take a moment to stop and remember the ones we love and care about and the lives that were lost. Is it really a day that should have Hallmark free e-cards though? Is it just me, or is that just hitting a new level of wrong?

I Gave In…
I woke up this morning and while the congestion seemed to be a little bit better, I still ached all over. Ugh. It took all the strength I had just to get out of bed. I got to the office and started to talk to the boss. Told her how I was feeling, and she said, “Go call your doctor.” But it’s just a virus! I don’t want to wait at their office for hours on end for them to just tell me that it’s a virus and it has to run it’s course. Fine. Fine, fine, fine … I’ll call. So I called, they called me back, we made an appointment for 2:45. Amazingly, I was out of there by 3:30. She confirmed that there is a bug going around, but it seems to be hitting people with allergies the most – that’s how it gets you. I guess it was a good thing I went in – she said I have the early signs of a sinus, ear and upper respiratory infection. It hasn’t moved into my lungs yet, but it was on it’s way. I was still running a low fever, and she questioned why I had been going to work. Why? Because in today’s society we get ourselves into the frame of mind where we think that calling in sick is wrong. I mean, it was just a low fever. Not to mention the fact that I’ve now learned my thermometer is off by a degree – because according to mine I didn’t have a fever at all. She wrote up a prescription for antibiotics, a decongestant, and sent me on my way. Hopefully I’ll finally get rid of this thing. I’m so tired of feeling like I ache from head to toe. At least I can finally breathe today – that’s a nice switch considering how the rest of the week has been!
*Cough*…
I woke up this morning and I could breath through both sides of my nose, for the first time in days. I know … ewwwwwww … but considering how I’ve felt since Saturday, being able to breath was a good thing. Decided I really couldn’t handle another day in bed, so I went to work. No fever – otherwise I would have stayed home. I coughed and sniffled a lot, but I made it through the day. Tod went to meet with the client that wanted to meet in person on his own – I didn’t think it was right to show up at their office like this. I muddled my way through my conference call, and she was truly understanding. I got a big kick out of the fact that Liz said that when she was entering my reason for being out yesterday she almost quoted what Kymberlie told her after talking to me on the phone – “She sounds like ass.” Yeah, that summed it up pretty well. I made it through the full day today, but I was pretty tired by the end. Kristine “sent me” cookies to cheer me up! You’ll get to see them when the skins return. Speaking of people sending me things, right before I took a turn for the worse, Chrys sent me an awesome photograph too. I’ll post it tomorrow. For now, it’s time for bed. I need some rest.
Things are getting feisty at Big Blogger All-Star! where the other contestants nominated Min Jung and Rusty for elimination. (Yes, the other contestants. Not me.) And the shock of the day? They voted Min Jung off. *gasp* Even if you have no interest in following the game, could you let me know if you have a Yahoo log-in and you’re willing to join the Message Boards? There may come a point in time where I will need you to go and vote in order to advance. Hook me up if you can, ok?
I Long for PPA…
All day long I’ve missed the old, long gone over the counter cold meds. The ones with PPA Phenylpropanolamine like Alka Seltzer, Contac, Dimetapp, Robitussin, Tavist D, and Triaminic, all drugs recalled because they contain PPA, which supposedly has all sorts of issues. I don’t care right now. I want to be able to breath free!
Pink Pajama Pants…
My ears are still crackly whenever I swallow. My temperature hasn’t dropped much yet, even after a few doses of the Tylenol Cold that my Mom went to the store to pick up for me. The chicken broth she brought me back from the store has helped some too – nothing quite like that warm soothing feeling. Wearing my Media Whore t-shirt and my pink polka dot satin pajama pants. Remember those hair photos I promised? Yeah, not taking them until I can actually breathe out my nose again. Which I can sort of do now thanks to the medicine, now it just keeps running. And the irony? I got spam e-mail for a free 7-day sample of Allegra. Ha! Too late for that now!
There has been one good perk to this. I finally got to finish reading the 4th Harry Potter book, the Goblet of Fire. Matter of fact, I read over half of it in two days. Good book. If you haven’t read the series, do it. I was completely caught off guard by the twists and turns – the type of story that makes me truly happy. Now I’ll have to see if Jason will let me read his copy of “The Hobbit” and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. First I’m going to read the books I borrowed from Kymberlie. At the rate I’m going, those should be fast!
