The Silence…

Wondered why I was so quiet yesterday? BlogOmania :: There’s always room for one more!

We also spent the afternoon at the museum. We had a good time, I took photos for the Pixelog (to be added tonight), I took photos for D of the Chemistry Wall, I took photos of Jason, I took photos of everything! Have I mentioned how I love digital cameras and the ability to just delete an image if it’s not quite perfect? After the museum, Jason & I stopped at Pappa’s Barbque on the way home. Yummmm, yum! It was delicious!

10 Years…

It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years. The official anniversary was yesterday. I left Germany on February 21, 1992 after living there for a year & a half. I can honestly say I have missed it every day ever since. I miss Europe. If you’ve been there, you probably know what I mean. If you live there now, I’m jealous. If you’re heading there, I wish I could be too. Maybe someday. All week long I’ve been thinking about it. I can’t believe that much time has passed. I can’t believe Jason will be 10 in two months. (I flew back exactly 2 months, to the day, before he was born)

I have a long list of places that I would want to visit if I returned tomorrow. I would like to go to
Rothenburg ob der Tauber, only about 15 minutes from where I lived in Illesheim. Illesheim is such a small town, I couldn’t find a website for it, but Bad Windsheim was only 3km away. It’s part of the Romantisches Franken region. Matter of fact, you can rent an apartment in Bad Windsheim for a vacation home. Back over in Rothenburg you can visit the Torture Museum and Kathe Wohlfahrt’s Christmas store.

I could go on for hours, if not days, about Germany and all of Europe. I will go back someday. I don’t know when or how, but it would be a dream come true. Actually, it’s more then just a dream – it’s a goal. Now I just need to make it happen.

In a Haze…

My head hurts. I’ll blame it on Robyn, she had us doing tequila shots before the Jell-O Wrestling. Oh, wait, we didn’t really do that. Ok, I’ll just blame it on the bizarre, bizarre client issues that have popped up out of nowhere today. Amazing. As much as I believe in the power of the internet and the fact that there are business opportunities out there and so forth, it is still amazing the strange things people think of doing with websites. Sometimes I just hang up the phone and laugh after I hear their ideas. I wonder if they have looked at the long range possibilities of the viability of their project. In other words, it is obvious it will fall flat on it’s face. It’s my job to guide them as much as I can though – so I do. And I try to point out the parts of their plan that are flawed. Beyond that, I can’t do anything. Then there are the other clients, the one that don’t want to give you content but wonder why their site isn’t done. I understand, writing content isn’t easy. But … it’s necessary. Period, no options – unless you want a blank site. Ugh. Maybe some more Excedrin will help.

I’ve noticed my posts have been really short lately. I think it’s due in part to shifting responsibilities at work (a good thing) keeping me super busy (not quite as good). I’m going to work on that though, because … well, it’s bugging me. Both the too much work issue and the boring posts issue.

That said, behind the scenes, the things that don’t get blogged, have been fun & interesting. I’ll write more about them when the time is right. No big exciting secrets or anything, I just know if I write now they will come out as mumbo-jumbo. Yeah, sort of like the rest of this post. That said, watch for Irony Chef, coming soon to a blog near you…

20:02, 20/02, 2002…

I’m sure you have heard it at some point today – today is a special day, because we had 20:02, 20/02, 2002. That’s 8:02pm, 20/02 is the European way of writing Feb. 20, and it’s 2002. Where were you? I was on the road. I was thinking to myself that everything I read about it said “this won’t happen ever again!” Uh, what? Why not on 21:12, 21/12, 2112? Translated, 9:12pm, Dec. 21, 2112? After that time it will never happen again because the military clock ends at 24 and there are only 12 months in a year. So there can’t be a 30:03, 30/03, 3003. There also can’t be a 31:13, 31/13, 3113. But it will still happen one more time. Most of us probably won’t be around to see it though!

Just an FYI…

Hey, D! I’ve got geeky gadgets too! Tivo, DVD, Surround sound system (and I set it up all by myself). Wireless network (also set up by me). Sure, sure, my computer may not be so cool, and you have the camera of my dreams, but come on. I’m a chick! So, lets see. Single female. Lives in the US. Posts on FilePile. Knows Naomi, who chats with Andre all the time. Uh, yeah. Better get out those latin phrases now.

But in reality, no one makes me laugh like D and Todd. Not even Andre.
