No Soup For You…

If I’m lucky, we’ll try out Mac’s cheddar beer soup recipe in the near future. Maybe next week after the cold front comes through. Mmmm… beer cheese soup.

Celebrating the Veterans

Jason had a project due earlier this week where they were supposed to make a half-sheet poster honoring a veteran. I have two cousins currently serving in the Armed Forces, so he put them on his poster. My cousin Darren is in the Marines, and my cousin Eric is in the Army. Both have served in Iraq and will be returning there again in the future. *sigh* I’ve talked about Eric before, back during Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan, where his best friend was killed. (I have better photos of the poster, but they are stuck on the camera card until I get to the other computer to pull them off.)

Thank you to all the men & women that have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces to defend us. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I appreciate it. It is something that can’t really be expressed in words.

Take a moment – thank a vet.

No Photography, Round 2…

It was absolutely impossible to get into a Photography I class that would work with the rest of my classes this semester. *sigh* Oh well, at least I got the Chem II teacher that I really wanted, and I’m all set for Biology II and Trigonometry.

I hope it works out next year though – I need to take 1 art class, and since photography is an option I would prefer to take that over Art Appreciation. I mean, I appreciate art and all, but I would love to get into a darkroom again!

Finally!

With Mike With Acerbia Dave With Ann, the PixelDiva

Whew. I took a LOT of photos on the 4th day of our honeymoon while we were in London. It was our last full day in London, and we met up with Dave and Ann for dinner and some photography time.

I obviously made the most of my photography time, since the third photoset for day 4 is HUGE. (91 photos to be exact, all taken after 5:00 pm that day. 156 total for the day, after editing out the blurry or duplicate photos.)

The reason we met up with Dave & Ann is because we met because of them. Yes, two people in London made us meet. Mike lived in London for awhile, but returned to Houston about once a month. Every time he would come back, Dave would ask me if I had finally met him. No, I didn’t. (Both Dave & Ann kept asking Mike if he had met me when he would return to London.) So once Mike moved back to Houston for good, he arranged a H-Town blogger event at Kavah Kane’s – and as soon as I saw the e-mail about it I knew I had to go and finally meet Mike. We hit it off immediately, and I couldn’t ask for a more wonderful husband.

I still think we should have sent Dave the bill for the wedding.

We met up that evening at a bookstore, walked through Trafalgar Square over to Big Ben, crossed to the South Bank for photo opportunities, and then decided to take a ride in the London Eye. Mike & I had gone during the day earlier in the week, but Dave & Ann had never been up there. It was so cool, we just had to go back.

This, of course, fed my addiction to taking photos of Big Ben and took it to a whole new level. Matter of fact, if you view the photos, I recommend the “Slideshow” option on the top right corner of the photoset page. I actually left some of my photos of Big Ben out. A lot of photos. Yes, it is that bad. (Wait until I get the Paris photos online – I have a thing for the Eiffel Tower too.)

The last photos in the set are somewhat crappy, but I had to upload them for Ann. She had pointed out earlier in the evening that I was a lucky gal because Mike is *so* patient while I take photos. He gets it. He waits while I run around trying to get the perfect shot. (I told you he was fabulous!) Ann knows that that is a very important quality in a shutterbug’s mate. Dave was picking on me for taking photos every 3 feet, so I went a little crazy with it.
