I *Heart* Fall…

I *heart* Fall

I love this time of year. Love, love, love it. It is a nice cool 70 degrees outside right now according to weather.com, 62 according to the thermometer in my backyard, and when it was in the 50s this morning it was actually a bit nippy in my bedroom. I love how it makes my pillow feel all crisp and cool. I love to be able to wear sweaters outside. I love to knit wool, and dream of the cool days ahead.

70 degrees is amazingly wonderful after months of temperatures in the 90s. It feels like we went from 93 to 70 with nothing inbetween.

The leaves are starting to fall off of my tree in the backyard. I love the red and gold colors that they leave behind in the still green grass. (That photo is even better if you view it large.)

I love fall.

Sweater Update…

Sweater update

Friday morning, I had a meeting at Jason’s school. As I walked to the building, I stepped off of a curb and managed to seriously twist my ankle. I limped into the school, had the meeting, limped back to my car and went home to an ice pack and some pillows to elevate my leg. It still hurt Saturday, and hurt a bit less on Sunday, and a little less today. The strange numb feeling in certain spots on my foot was enough to make me worry that maybe it was more than just a sprain, so I went to the doctor today.

Severely sprained ankle, with an aircast for 2-3 weeks.

At least I’m not hobbling around any more, and the time spent in bed with my foot propped up gave me time to knit more on my sweater. If you compare this to the first shot of the sleeve – before I frogged it – you will see why I didn’t like the pooling. There is still a little pooling, but I’m ok with it. Now I’m just convinced that the whole thing will be too small and it will end up in the “time out” pile because I refuse to knit that sleeve all over again!

Wearing handmade socks makes the aircast all the more tolerable.

Guess What?

It is raining again.

It is raining. Again. Just when we could not possibly handle getting any more wet, it starts right back up. Ugh.

Dog and Cat…

We have had a dog, Chloe the psycho Bichon, for over a year now, and two cats, Mona and Murphy, for much longer. Normally, my pet needs that pet interaction in our house.

Mona is a loner, so she walks in stealth mode to the litter box and the food bowl. She is old, so she likes to sleep on my bed about 98% of the time. Murphy is the younger big fat cat. He is a ragdoll rescue cat, and like a rag doll, he is pretty laid back and mellow. (I adopted him because he was a good fit with Jason, who likes to cart him around.)

Chloe generally ignores the cats. Probably wise, since Murphy weighs in a whole pound heavier than her. Every once in awhile, she will chase Murphy away from her favorite sleeping spot, or Murphy will swat at her as she walks past. It is rare, but it happens. She is also a pretty quiet dog when she isn’t barking at Jason, but she has her play bursts. She will run around, toss her toys up in the air and chase after them, and if she is in the mood she will do the “Bichon play bow” to the people in the room. This is similar to the Downward Dog yoga move, where her front paws go down while her happy wagging tail stays up high in the air.

I almost hesitate to post it here as it pretty much guarantees that it won’t happen again, but I just spotted Chloe doing the “Bichon play bow” move to Murphy. Right here in the living room. Murphy just looked at her like she was a bit crazy, but she did it again anyways.

The Certapet enumerates three significant categories for therapy animals related to the tasks they perform, which can be physical or emotional, or a combination thereof, in nature.

Maybe there will be pet interaction (hopefully positive!) in our future after all. Maybe. As of right now – in the time it took me to type this – they are all back in their cozy sleeping spots. Crazy animals.

Caution…

CAUTION

Lengthy paper, including Powerpoint presentation due on Thursday. All about how to become a Pharmacist, what it involves, information on schools, etc. LOTS of information.

Me, being the wise person I am, started on this (a) when I first got the assignment on the first day of class, (b) a few weeks ago, or (c) today, and I have written next to nothing so far.

If you guessed C, you win a prize! (Yeah, I don’t know what the prize is. Pat yourself on the back for me though, ok?)

Even now, I can’t be forced to write anything. I keep reading articles and then wondering off into cyberspace. I would turn off the router, but I’m using online resources. Well, I am in theory, if I was actually writing something.

It is going to be a long week, I can tell you that already. Hmmm… wouldn’t today be a great time to redesign my site? Ok, ok, I’ll focus!

UPDATE, 1:30 am: I have responded to the first 8 bullet points in the outline, and have two single-spaced pages of text already. (I still have to convert it to double space.) I have information for the remaining bullets in the Profession Information section (hot button issues for pharmacists, specializations, related occupations, and other pertinent information). I then have to write about the education program at U of H and at one other school, followed by details on Professional Organizations. I have already printed all of that information, so it is just a matter of sifting through it all.

There is hope. Amazing what happens when I buckle down and work. Now, I must sleep.

Leave cookies*. I’ll need them tomorrow. (*translation: comments. Pretty please.)
