Feeling Fresh…

Flowers at the Cabin

These were the flowers on the bush right outside our cabin in the Ozarks. I have no idea what type of flowers they are, but if you do would you let me know? Is it maybe a hibiscus?

I am still making my way through the hundreds of photos I’ve taken in the past 2 weeks. I couldn’t handle the website looking so plan without a photograph, so I had to get this one online. It was my way of celebrating the fact that I registered a domain name tonight that I can use to once again run my photoblog, and maybe even someday as a photography business name if I decide to formally go that route. Fresh Photography. It fits the many facets of my photography – a fresh vision, fresh as in nature and bugs, a fresh look at something otherwise overlooked.

Plus I just like saying “fresssshhhhhhhh.”

So in honor of the new domain, something fresh for you to enjoy!

Because Everyone Can Use Some Organization…

I am back in Houston. I need to go through my Harlot photos and then my Arkansas photos so I can post them. The time will come soon. First I need to make sure that Jason is ready to START HIGH SCHOOL (someone hold me while I cry a little) on Monday. We’ve shopped for clothes, he has new tennis shoes, and he goes to “Cougar Camp” on Friday morning for a bit of orientation from the student council. I still can’t believe it is time for him to start HIGH SCHOOL. Wow.

Then I only have two weeks left before I start classes myself. I have a lot that I want to get done in those two weeks, which means it isn’t likely to happen. But I’ll do what I can in that amount of time. This semester will be a lighter load for me in that I won’t have as many classes, and only one of them involves a lab. The classes will probably be harder though, so I’m trying not to take on too much. This semester it will be Organic Chemistry, Trigonometry, and a Psych class for people majoring in health sciences. (The last one is required for my scholarship.)

I am also finishing up (finally!) my notes for the next Pointy Sticks podcast. Mike’s vacation ends today, so I hope to record while he is at work tomorrow. I know, shocking, isn’t it?

Once I get done with my home organization projects, I want to set up my crafty inventory in CraftMemo. It looks really cool, plus it is free. Can’t beat free. Check it out! [via Mac.]

The State with the Funny Names…

Wheeeeeeeeeee!!! Internet access for the first time in over a week!!! SWEET!

We’re still in Arkansas, but no longer in the Ozarks. We are spending the night tonight in Arkadelphia. How fabulous is that for a city name? Tomorrow, we will be heading to Crater of Diamonds State Park to look for diamonds of our own – or whatever fancy rocks we might find.

We have been in the middle of the most beautiful nature you might ever see, with almost no one around us. Seriously, quiet life. National Forests, a National River, and yet very few people. If you live in the United States, come visit the Ozarks. NOW. I’ll post photos soon to show you why I say that. Tonight, I’m just going to bask in the glow of the monitor and enjoy the free WiFi at the hotel.

Yes, we made sure the hotel had WiFi when we booked our room. Guess what all three of us are doing right now? To be honest, I didn’t miss it that much over the past week. I did have to call my Mom to get her help booking a hotel room for tonight via Travelocity with better rates, and there were a few times I would have liked to have been able to look up information.

I have no idea why Flickr wouldn’t let me post any more photos with my phone after July 31st. I don’t know if it is an issue with Flickr, with Cingular, or what the deal is. It was driving me nuts for the first few days, then I finally gave up.

In completely random other news, I found out last week that I will be receiving the scholarship that I applied for back in April. The one that I had to write the “why I want to be a pharmacist” essay for. So my tuition for this semester will be paid! That covers almost half of the cost of school, after that it is just books. Yeah!

Oh… I wonder if the TV here gets more than 2 stations? Being limited to NBC and PBS for a week makes life pretty interesting. Good thing we weren’t in the cabin that much – we were too busy enjoying the great outdoors!
