Call Me, Baby…

Motorola V551 Phone (Cingular)Yeah! I got a new phone! I’m mobile again! Wheeeeee!!! And it is a pretty phone too, with lots of cool features and … I’m so excited! I got the Motorola V551. Since our contract was almost up, we were eligible for the upgrade so we got it at a great price. Now I just need to find a headset for it and get a car charger, and I’m all set. (I rely on the car charger a lot, and I always use a headset when I’m driving.) They were all out of the bluetooth special headsets, and I wasn’t about to spend $50 on one today.

Anyone have a Bluetooth headset that they recommend? Or is the sound better if I just stick with the regular corded headset?

Also on the phone front, we are formally switched over to Vonage after a relatively painless process! We ordered it at the very end of July, and put in the phone number transfer request the very same day. SBC actually had their act together for a change – instead of the “20 business days” as originally predicted, it took less than a week to move the phone number over. By Thursday, calls to our home number were coming through on the Vonage phone line.

Vonage ROCKS in about a million ways. You can check your voicemail online. You can be notified by e-mail of your voicemail messages, and even have the audio clip sent there if you want. You can tell Vonage to call an alternate number (such as your cell phone) if you don’t answer your home phone after so many seconds. The only static I’ve had so far is because I’ve got the cordless phone base and the WiFi router sitting right next to one another. I need to move the phone base, and that should take care of it.

Want to sign up for Vonage? Let me know – I can send you a referral link via e-mail, and we will both get some free service time! How cool is that? I love Vonage. (If you want more info on it, let me know – I’m happy to share the Vonage love!)

BloggerTwin Powers, Activate!

Reasons CBS Should Cast the BloggerTwins on The Amazing Race (copied from their website, spotted first at Marmalade.ca.)

1. We’re bloggers. Casting us will give them an immediate fan-base of millions of bloggers.
2. Give two nice boys from the Midwest a chance to win a million dollars so they can build their disabled mother a wheelchair-accessible house.
3. Casting bloggers on a reality TV show is a fantastic idea.
4. We’re not semi-professional actors or models.
5. Everyone likes twins.
6. We’re huge online geeks who both met our girlfriends online.
7. Bald is Beautiful.
8. “Bloggertwin Powers…Activate!”

Ok, I *swear* – I wrote the title of the post before I read #8. See, great minds think alike. CBS really needs to pick these guys. They want to win so the can build their Mom a wheelchair accessible house. How sweet is THAT?

Add to that the fact that I’ve met Cameron in person at SXSW, and his dry wit would be FANTASTIC on the show!

Come on CBS, spare us one of the “we want to figure out where our relationship is going” couples and bring on the BloggerTwins!

Finding Happiness…

“Happiness is a butterfly, which, when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you sit down quietly, may alight upon you.”

I Am the Disco Maimer…

Last night while sending an e-mail to Jennifer, I typed the word disclaimer. Well, I meant to type that, but I missed a key or something and it ended up all wrong. Spell check caught it for me though. It wanted to change it for me. Change it to read:

disco maimer

Yep, that’s me. The Disco Maimer.

Luna…

I went through my comments in moderation because WP has been moderating everything again. I need to fix that – but meanwhile, I want to thank everyone for your well wishes. I truly appreciate it.

While going through the comments, I almost approved all the ones for “Lunesta” – I’m in the middle of reading Harry Potter, and I thought it was someone’s name at first. Until I realized I had about 250 comments from her. Then I remembered it is a drug.

I was zapped, poked and prodded yesterday. Literally. I had an Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Study. Needles in my arm to record the muscle activity. Electrical pulse being applied to the skin forcing my hand and fingers to twitch. It was like a torture scene from a movie. (Ok, it wasn’t that bad – but that was what it reminded me of.)

The result is that I do have carpal tunnel syndrome. The doctor informed me that I have mild to moderate nerve damage, and he is writing up a report to send to my doctor. Funny thing is, my wrist doesn’t hurt anymore since the shot last Friday. Sure, my fingers get tingly still after awhile, but it still seems to be linked a lot more to my shoulder, which the neurologist said is a joint issue. I start physical therapy next week for that, so hopefully it will help.

Lunesta. Not the same as Luna. But now I feel Harry Potter calling for me. 200 pages left to go…
