Now that WordPress 1.5 is available, I need a copy of WP 1.2.1 or 1.2.2. Does anyone have a copy of Old School WordPress laying around that they can share?
Blurker?
Wondering what a Blurker is? Well, it’s a phrase that Mike & I helped to define back in 2002, shortly after we first met.
Blurker (BLUR-kur): n. 1. One who reads many blogs but leaves no evidence of themselves such as comments behind; a silent observer of blogs. 2. One who reads many blogs but has no blog of their own; a blog-watcher or blog voyeur.
So if you want to increase your traffic or meet new people – whatever works for you – then shake off the label and comment. I promise, we’re nice around here.
Like Your TiVo, Only Cuter…
Just in case you missed it, The Amazing Race 7 starts TONIGHT! Former Survivor members and a POW will be participants on this season’s show.
Not only is there the Amazing Race tonight, there is an America’s Next Top Model show! It’s a follow-up on the girls from Season 3; Season 4 starts tomorrow night!
For someone that used to hate reality shows, I sure do watch a lot of them now, don’t I? Well, we all have to have our vices. It could be a lot worse!
Not a Fool Day!
It’s March 1st. Already. What the hell happened to February? I mean, seriously. Where did it go? Zoom, February is gone. Now it’s March 1st, just one month until April Fool’s Day. Time for you to start planning your April Fool’s jokes if you’re that sort of person. I still remember the year that a bunch of us exchanged keys to our blogs and let each other post and people had to figure out which posts were real and which were fake. It was quite amusing; maybe we should do that again.
But today? Today I’m declaring a special day … don’t be a fool! Don’t blurk! Comment! Blurking is bad, commenting is good. It’s been too quiet on the internet lately, it’s time to come on out and play! As an added bonus, the last time I did this I discovered some pretty kick-ass blogs that I wouldn’t have found otherwise. Now I read them (and comment on them) every chance I get! So come on out and comment, it’s a Blurker Amnesty Day!
Props go to Sheryl who created the image for de-lurking day earlier this year. I couldn’t resist using it again. Blurking is a bad thing, and sometimes we all need a reminder to come on out and play.
(Honestly, I swear… this is not an attempt to procrastinate and put off work. Really. I promise. You believe me, right?)
By the way, it’s ok if you take advantage of blurker amnesty later this week, or even next week… I won’t mind!
For the Record…
Sometimes you have to post about things so you won’t forget the milestones down the road. Last night was one of those moments. When I got home, I chatted for a bit with Katherine, who put my mind at ease over my CSS stress. After we talked, I finally let it go. I allowed myself to dive into CSS, and guess what?
I finally GOT IT.
I was debugging. I was moving containers. I was span-ing and div-ing all over the place. With the exception of one item on my list of changes to make, I made it happen. I had triple columns. I had borders. I had backgrounds.
It was a beautiful moment. For once, CSS did not make my eyes bleed. I might just learn to finally love CSS after all. That is worth remembering.
