What is Hip?

What Is Hip: Remix Project 1What is Hip? Remix Project – classics from the Warner Bros. vault. is absolutely fabulous! Doobie Brothers “Listen to the Music” remixed by Malibu? How could you go wrong? Every song that I’ve listened to so far is great. You can listen to all of the tracks right on the site – a smart move by Warner Brothers!

I thought that Seals & Croft’s “Summer Breeze” was great – then I hit Rod Stewart’s “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” (remixed by Halou)… man! I’m loving this! Dude! Devo’s “Whip It” remixed! “Dreamweaver” remixed by Supreme Beings of Leisure!

Oooooh Dreaaaaamweaver … I believe you can get me through the night … (Damn, that’s going to be stuck in my head all day now!)

If you go through all the tracks on the website, there is an “Ulta Mix Medley” at the end that is not included on the CD – a “Player Bonus Track” for you to enjoy.

I’ll admit, I’m a sucker for the remix. What Is Hip: Remix Project 1 is going on my Wishlist right away! Simply Faaaaa-bu-lous!

The 10 Least Successful Holiday Specials of All Time…

For your amusement – The 10 Least Successful Holiday Specials of All Time. My favorite is the lost Star Trek Christmas Episode: “A Most Illogical Holiday” from 1968.

The Lost Star Trek Christmas Episode: “A Most Illogical Holiday” (1968)

Mr. Spock, with his pointy ears, is hailed as a messiah on a wintry world where elves toil for a mysterious master, revealed to be Santa just prior to the first commercial break. Santa, enraged, kills Ensign Jones and attacks the Enterprise in his sleigh. As Scotty works to keep the power flowing to the shields, Kirk and Bones infiltrate Santa’s headquarters. With the help of the comely and lonely Mrs. Claus, Kirk is led to the heart of the workshop, where he learns the truth: Santa is himself a pawn to a master computer, whose initial program is based on an ancient book of children’s Christmas tales. Kirk engages the master computer in a battle of wits, demanding the computer explain how it is physically possible for Santa to deliver gifts to all the children in the universe in a single night. The master computer, confronted with this computational anomaly, self-destructs; Santa, freed from mental enslavement, releases the elves and begins a new, democratic society. Back on the ship, Bones and Spock bicker about the meaning of Christmas, an argument which ends when Scotty appears on the bridge with egg nog made with Romulan Ale.

Filmed during the series’ run, this episode was never shown on network television and was offered in syndication only once, in 1975. Star Trek fans hint the episode was later personally destroyed by Gene Roddenberry. Rumor suggests Harlan Ellison may have written the original script; asked about the episode at 1978’s IgunaCon II science fiction convention, however, Ellison described the episode as “a quiescently glistening cherem of pus.”

Testing, Testing…

Google

Search the WWW Search BigPinkCookie.com

I’m testing out the Google search feature. I tried to go in to WP to add it to my sidebar; after I ripped out a few fists full of hair, I decided to just add it to a post. I’ll deal with where it goes in the final design later. I just want to make sure I have search across my full site. I’ll need it, since this is my virtual brain dump of all sorts of information! It is a temporary fix while I get the “new” site up and running in MT, leaving all of my old posts behind in WordPress. At least with the Google “search this site” feature, I can still find it all!

Now I think I’ll have to make a BigPinkCookie logo that is Google-like to use. Oh, wouldn’t it be cool if the results page had “BigPinkCoooooooooooookie” like Google does? *giggle* It’s not there, but the search tool is still fun to use. Try it out!

I Seriously Need to…

Mike and I are talking about things that need to get done. Every sentence that I say starts with, “I seriously need to…” and as the words come out of my mouth, I think of at least 3 more things that I seriously need to do.

… I seriously need to update the Blogomania client blogroll.

… I seriously need to work on some Blogomania billing issues.

… I seriously need to add a blogroll to the index page of Blogomania with the last x number of recently updated blogs. Is there a better solution for this than Blogrolling?

… I seriously need to post the Bloghosts moving special on the index page. 1 month free; migration for you guys.

… I seriously need to create a “client testimonials” page so that I can share things like Ms. Pants “like butta” site migration feedback.

… I seriously need to finish getting ready for the Stampin’ Up open house that is at MY house on Sunday. Want to join us? We’re making coasters using tiles – it will be cool.

… I seriously need to bake some goodies for the open house. What kind of cookies should I make?

… I seriously need to finish moving out all of the boxes I emptied out last weekend. Isn’t purging the house fun?

… I seriously need to finish up installing MT and getting this site moved – or not moved, whatever I end up doing. I love WP and I’m still using it for other sites; I just miss MT here.

… I seriously need to finish up my RSS article for the Lockergnome channel. I think I will do this one before I go to sleep tonight.

… I seriously need to edit and post more wedding & honeymoon photos. I love looking at them, and it’s only right if I share them with you guys.

Wow. I mean, seriously, this is way too many things to have on my plate all at once. I guess it’s good to be so serious about all of this, but being gone from home 4 days this week is really putting a kink in all the things I seriously need to do here. *whew* It will get better though once I get through tomorrow. Tomorrow. I can make it. I’m almost there. Seriously.

Starting from Scratch?

I’ve looked at the options for exporting my blog from WordPress and back in to MT (PapaScott’s Export from WordPress and Carthik’s option) and … well, there is one problem. I have a LOT of posts. I mean, a LOT. Like 6000 posts or some crazy number like that. I’m afraid that the options out there will cause my server to seize up in to a coughing, wheezing ball if I try to run either of them. The load would be just to much to bear, and would probably fall apart somewhere in the middle.

I just don’t see a good solution.

Would it be wrong of me to just start fresh? To point people to the old site if they want to run a search? Or better yet, to test out something like the Google “search within this site” option to allow people to search both the MT and WP versions of my site?

I hate to lose the history. I would include the old archives in my archive page somehow. But moving data around just doesn’t seem to make sense, and it is the only roadblock in my move back to MT.

So is it wrong to start fresh? Or should I just go for it? I’m asking you guys because you’re more likely to look at old archives than I am. If I need something, I just go to Google. (They seem to index all of my posts there anyways!) So, what do you think? Your opinion matters!
