Honey, I’m Home!

Biltmore Bride“Believe that you can do it, under any circumstances. Because if you believe you can, then you really will. That belief just keeps you searching for the answers, then pretty soon you get it.”
– Wally “Famous” Amos

Finally home from the workshop, and let me just say it … it was gooooooooood. I love that feeling of fresh inspiration that you get from things like attending workshops. And to make it even better, guess what? I won the grand prize in the photo contest! Squeeee!

The Little Things…

The Groom

One of my shots from yesterday’s wedding, speed edited just because it caught my eye. I love how the black of his jacket is separated from the black of the background. I made sure the light was just right in order to lift him like that. Squee! It just makes me so happy still after all these years when my mental vision of a photograph works out to be the same as the final version.

Sparkly, Shiny & New!

Squeeeeeee!!! I just sent the email off to Amy Grace of Candy Apple Studios finalizing my NEW & Improved logo!

It is based on the original one, but it needed some polish & tweaks. I also wanted an element that I could use on its own for things in the future like pins, stickers, whatever. On top of that, Amy provides logos in a variety of formats, making it very easy to print them large. Something I’ll be doing before the next round of Houston bridal shows.

Amy let me give a lot of feedback and tweaked away to get it just right. I loved how easy she was to work with, and how willing she was to incorporate my crazy ideas as we were chatting online, updating me real-time! Two thumbs up – for any photographers considering the need for a new logo, I HIGHLY recommend working with her!

Not What I Had in Mind…

I’ve mentioned here before wanting to do a trash the dress session with one of my wedding photography clients, but this? This is SOOOOOOO not what I had in mind!

You may recall that I mentioned attending the Elevate workshop back in June in Orlando. Dan and Jim were there too, and I can see they have definitely put their skills to good use! 😉 For more photos, visit TrashedbyDan.com. (I promise, they are really great photographers — who obviously have a really great sense of humor too!)
By the way – my offer still stands. First person willing to trash their dress gets a session for free if you’re in Houston! Contact me to discuss it further!

Jennifer & David

At the beginning of September, I had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Jennifer & David with Jennifer & Dennis Wilson of Silver Plate Photography of New Braunsfels, Texas. Whew! How is that for a confusing sentence? Jennifer Wilson contacted me this summer and asked me to photograph the wedding with her husband, as she was a bridesmaid in the wedding so she was going to have to put down the camera for a change. It is always such an honor to work with another photographer in a situation like this, because she was contacting me for one of her long-time personal friends. It was such a beautiful day, and we all had a great time.

The wedding was at the Spring Branch Presbyterian Church, and the reception was at the Crystal Ballroom of the Rice Hotel. The band was awesome – Jennifer even got up and sang with them! – and the day was just FUN!
