Ugh…

While I had an absolutely fantastic time at the Sting concert on Saturday night with Kymberlie, the lawn seats that we had seem to have triggered some horrible allergy attack – or else those hives last week really were and indication of an infection after all. I would be blaming it on the grass if it wasn’t for the fact that Mike couldn’t stop sneezing tonight, because he wasn’t at the show with us.

Ugh.

I can’t breathe at all out of the left side of my nose. Both of my sinuses feel like they are going to explode. I want to move my eyeballs forward a little bit to stop the sinus pressure. The pain! The pain!

On top of all of it, the Claritin I’ve been taking seems to have me wired. Wide awake, but really out of it. Adding Sudafed to the mix has only kicked it up a notch. I’m only on my way to bed right now because I keep hoping that if I can make myself sleep I can escape some of the nasal fun.

Can someone make it stop? Please?

Lager Rhythms – LIVE!!!

I have been a bad wife. I didn’t point out earlier that the group that Mike is in, the Lager Rhythms, perform TONIGHT at the Mucky Duck! In the Houston area? Like GOOD live music? Then go and check them out! I can guarantee you will have a fabulous time!

I’ll miss tonight’s show – I’m going with Kymberlie to see Sting and Annie Lenox. She loves Sting, and I found out about the concert just days before her birthday back in March, so we got tickets as soon as they went on sale a few days after her birthday!

Oh, Orkin Man!

Last week, Jason opened a cabinet door and a GIANT black cockroach (probably a full size American Cockroach) jumped out and landed on him. Eeeek! Then it fell to the floor and ran really, really fast to hide from us. Mike found it the next day and was able to kill it. Unfortunately, any roaches we have found in the past have died quickly on their own. This one was still going strong. Time to call in the pest control guys to have a roach free house!

This morning, I found a small ant-like bug with wings. Immediately, I was convinced it was a termite. Yeah, paranoid, that’s me. Paranoia can be a good thing though. Thanks to the internet, I’ve since learned that it was just a winged ant (the wings, pinched body – like a wasp, and elbowed antennae were all present), but I’m still going to look in to that too, people have tell me I can find out how to kill pests at DeadPestz.com.

Then there are the wasps outside on our patio. They seem to be constantly hovering around a ceiling fan out there, as if their nest is inside the ceiling behind the fan. Great. Either that or they are trying to cool off in the Texas heat!

I’m tired of playing hostess to the insects of Houston. Go away bugs! Go away! You’re gross and nasty and I don’t want you here!

Even Salt Has Corn?!?

Jason is allergic to corn, so it caught my eye when I noticed that the GNC website offers special recipes, including a section dedicated to a corn-free diet. While reading the Baked Macaroni and Cheese recipe, I noticed a note about the salt in the recipe:

Allergy notes: People following a corn-free diet should avoid iodized salt since it contains dextrose, which should be avoided by those allergic to corn.

There is even corn in salt. Goodness. There is no escape from the evil corn!
