Blonde Moment…

I am not a blonde. I swear. But for years I have had people who haven’t met me in person tell me (when we meet face to face) “Oh! I thought you would be a blonde.” Whatever is that supposed to mean??? It means I am prone to do silly things somedays, like hang up on Jay. We have been exchanging e-mails about SXSW, just like I have with Meryl. In one of his e-mails he says to call him when I get into Austin and includes a phone number. I wasn’t sure if that was the number for his hotel or what the number was … so I called it. It rang a few times & I reached over to depress the hang-up thingie on the phone. As I was hanging up, before it was too late to stop the motion, I heard a voice say “Hello?” Not “Austin Hotel, how may I direct your call?” No, just a regular hello. I had hung up on Jay. Some moments are too classic for words…

Speaking of SXSW, here is the Austin Chronicle’s take on the whole thing. [via BarkingMoose]

Principles. Right…

Reading through the Argus Leader – Editorials … “Preservation of the ability of the executive branch to function effectively requires respecting the confidentiality of communication among a president, a vice president, the president’s other senior advisers and others.” I don’t know what Cheney was thinking when he said that, but it was always my understanding that if we elect them, then we have a right to know what is going on. I mean, call me crazy, but wasn’t that the stance the Republicans took over the whole Monica crisis? We the people had the right to know every least detail of Clinton’s sex life – but Cheney says it is a matter of principle that he not release the names of the energy industry executives who were a part of his National Energy Policy Development Group? They helped the administration determine their energy policy recommendations, they had in input in OUR government. WE therefore have a right to know WHO they are! Somedays it all amazes me… [via Citizen Cites & Comments]

Busy as a Bee…

Wow! What a whirlwind today has been. More proposal writing going on, but the list is still long. I am still at the office, because I want as many of these done as possible when I head out of town for SXSW on Friday. But I’m taking a tiny mental break to stretch the fingers in a different direction.

I think the techno gurus at the office are now convinced that I am a complete goof. I walked into one of the other offices this afternoon, and they had their TV on. Normally it’s on CNN, matter of fact that is the same spot I stood in as I watched the news unfold on September 11th. Today was different though – today it was on TechTV, and since it was about 4:15pm CST, what else was on but Call for Help? So I walked in, took a step back out of shock because there was Chris. I think I might have giggled like a little girl! I then went on to say, out loud, “Heee! There’s Chris! Hi Chris!” One of the guys looked at me like I was absolutely insane. Oh well, I don’t care. It made me smile, and considering I had been ranting just earlier today about other work issues, a smile was a good thing. To take it a step further though, my boss was so sweet … as he left tonight he said I could go into his office (which also has a TV), log in to his computer to work, and watch TechTV in there! I said no though, because Call for Help is over for now … I’ll just work faster and go home and watch it.

I downloaded the software that Robyn pointed out in my comments from my Sunday night post when I accidentally erased my camera’s media card. Then after I installed it I realized that my card reader is at home – normally I keep it in the laptop bag, but I was so mad that I had erased my photos I put it on the counter and left it there. So I will try that out later from home & let you know how I do with it.

Kymberlie made me a new skin last night … awwww! I was really touched, and it’s really pretty! I still have a design in mind for a new skin, but reality is that time is limited before SXSW, so I think I will add hers in now and create mine when I get back.

Speaking of making things, Jennifer is in the middle of setting up PHPbb on BlogOmania! PHPbb is a free PHP bulletin board software, and let me just say this – it is SWEET! I highly recommend it from what I have seen so far!

And on a closing note … 1400? Shhhhhsss…. that’s nothing! Ok, ok, I’m just kidding. *grin* Amazing what some people will do for fame. [via Robyn via Meryland]

Four in One…

I wasn’t sure if I could do it, but I put myself up to the challenge anyways. Four client proposals in one day. Two of which contained extensive programming. Tomorrow will be almost as busy, as I will be doing three more. On top of that, I have to get ready and get things packed for SXSW! Ahhh, but it feels so good to have those proposals out of here! Four in one day … I think I need a medal for that or something!

Tonight I have to stop at Wal-Mart on my way home to get Tide, Cascade, and a few other items. Then it is home to do laundry and help fix up Chey’s new blog. I’m craving a new design for mine, but it might have to wait until after SXSW is over. Matter of fact, I think I need to start a to-do list for myself …

My Dream Come True…

Like a dream come true, a Schoolhouse Rock Special 30th Anniversary Edition DVD will be released a month (to the day!) before my 33rd birthday! I am so excited! Lock at all those features too! Wow! I have the CD, but the DVD is a must have. I’ll have to add that to my birthday wishlist now! [via Robyn and Meryl]
