More War News…

This article, “Details still emerging on deaths of Americans“, goes into more detail on the incident that I mentioned earlier today about my cousin. Operation Anaconda… who thinks of these names? Anyways, here is the part that hit so close to home:

An intense firefight broke out on the ground after the helicopter crash landed. Six Americans were killed in the ensuing battle.

The remaining crew members had to survive coming under constant fire for about 12 to 14 hours before being rescued, officials said. The bodies of those killed were recovered at that time.

Peace & prayers go out to Eric, my cousin who (it is my understanding) was a part of that remaining crew, and the many others fighting this war now…

The War Hits Home…

I just got an e-mail from my Mom about my cousin, Eric. He is in the Army and over in Afghanistan now – and his unit was involved in a conflict where seven soldiers were killed and they were pinned down for over 24 hours before being rescued. One of the soldiers killed was his best friend. And the reality of the war hits close to home…

A Place to Lay my Head at Night…

Up until now, I didn’t have a room reservation for SXSW, and while I had a place to stay on Friday, I didn’t for the rest of the trip. Meryl said that would freak her out, but I told her I wasn’t worried about it – things normally work out, and since I will have a car there, if worst came to worst I would stay outside of downtown where the LaQuinta’s are plenty… but now I don’t have to worry about it at all, because I get to roomie WITH MERYL!!! w00t! See Meryl? I told you it would all work out! Her original roommate, unfortunately, had to back out at the last minute – and there I was to step in and fill her place. Just one dilemna left now – DFWBlogs Happy Hour is at 8:30 on Monday, and the season premiere of The Amazing Race is at 9pm!

Just days to go! I’m so excited! SXSW, BABY!

Identity Crisis…

In case you wondered what was going to happen to Enron Field. I’ve been wondering how the Astros would handle this situation. [via OneGoodMove]
