Roll Bounce!

I rented “Roll Bounce” for $1 today at McDonald’s and I’m going to watch it tonight. Living large, living large! Actually, ever since I saw the preview for it, I wanted to check it out. For $1, how could I really go wrong? Well … we’ll see. I’ll post an update here after I watch it. Seriously, I expect it to be good.

Some of the Butterfly museum photos to be posted on Flickr tomorrow. I put one there tonight, but I need to process the rest of them. Before I do that, I want to read more of my Photoshop book.

I’ve finally gotten used to “The Club” enough that I can type brief blurbs without wanting to pull out my hair. I can’t WAIT to get it off on January 3rd. Ahh… to be able to bathe and wash my hair without wrapping my right arm up in plastic…

(On an interesting side note, I broke my left arm while rollerskating on the driveway after the winter Olympics in the 80s. I was speed skating like Eric Hayden and took a turn bent over and leaning like they do, only to lose it when I came out of the curve. I think I hit a rock or something. Now, arm all wrapped up, I will be watching a movie about skating. Full circle, I tell you.)

UPDATE: It was later than I thought and Mike was too tired (he kept falling asleep!) so Roll Bounce will be our Saturday movie instead. That will give me more time to read one of my many books waiting for me!

Quick update

Mike here. (Ooh, I’m posting on her blog. Must not get giddy with the power…!) The surgery went well; Christine is sleeping it off at the moment. Nothing else too exciting to report. Thanks for everybody’s well wishes. Happy holidays!

Getting Nervous…

I’ve known that the surgery tomorrow has been coming for months. I think we first decided to do it in October, and we scheduled it in November. I’ve had plenty of time to think about it – but now that it is less than 12 hours away, I’m starting to get nervous. I have to be at the hospital at 7am, and I am scheduled to go in at 8:30. They are doing both the carpal tunnel release and the surgery for De Quervain’s Disease.

I think I am most nervous about the surgery on my thumb. You just don’t realize how much you use your thumb until you have constant pain in it. I’m worried about what the post-op pain will be like and how long it will last. Oh, and if the super-happy-fun pills will make it ok, or at least make me sleep enough that I just don’t care.

Most of the housework I wanted to finish before Christmas is done, and Mike has promised to help me with the rest. So that is at least one less thing to worry about.

I’m sure I’ll be offline for a few days, but I will have Mike post an update or two for me. If you have any advice on the surgery or recovery tips, I would truly appreciate them. Thank you in advance!

No Help…

I was just shopping online at BestBuy.com – I love to “order” my items for store pickup, that way I can get in and out of the store in a flash. I added my goodies to my cart, selected what store I wanted, and left the computer for a few minutes to talk to Mike about the gifts – only to come back and find that they were no longer in my cart!

All I can think is that they require that you log in to add things to the cart, and since I wasn’t logged in they removed them. Gah!

Oh well, it wasn’t much – and for the time it would take for me to do it again, I may as well just go to the store. Wish me luck!

(Hand surgery is tomorrow. I have to be done with Christmas by bedtime tonight.)

Coming Up For Air…

Whew! It has been a WHIRLWIND of a week, and it isn’t over yet.

– Finals were on Tuesday & Wednesday. Once I figured out that I only needed a 40 on my Biology final and an 80 or so on my Algebra final, I put the books away Monday night and got some much needed sleep! I have been *so* tired lately, so I figured sleep was a lot more important than reviewing the same information over and over. The only grade I know so far is Biology and I GOT A 101 FOR THE SEMESTER GRADE!!! WHOO HOO!!! I’m so thrilled. Beyond happy. I hope that my other grades are just as strong. (I have confidence that the Algebra grade will be, but I’m still nervous about Chemistry.)

– Wednesday, as I left my Chemistry final, I was thrilled (*cough*) to find flash flood conditions on every road I took as I headed for home. So I didn’t come straight home – I went to Twisted Yarns since it is just off of I-45 and on my way home. It was nice to have a little refuge from the storm, even though I was soaking wet!

– Yesterday I did housework, laundry, had a nice long nap, and knit. A lot. And then some. I made a gift, and I finished up a pair of socks. (I have to graft the toe tonight, but otherwise they are done!) I abused my hand a lot, but that’s ok. I’m having surgery on Tuesday to make it all better.

– Pre-op appointment was today, but all they did was ask a lot of questions and take my blood pressure. (128/83) They were able to use the bloodwork from 2 weeks ago along with my EKG from Dr. Has-a-Clue’s office, so no additional tests needed. Yeah!

Now on to the big news – the results of all of those tests I had done. Here is the big news…

… nothing. We know nothing. There is nothing wrong with my gallbladder as far as the tests showed. All of my bloodwork came back within normal ranges. I do have an itty-bitty kidney stone, but it isn’t in the part of the kidney where it would be causing pain (she explained it better) and isn’t causing any damage so we’re not taking it out yet. Plus the abdominal pain I keep having is up under my right rib cage – nowhere near my kidneys. Dr. Belly will be doing a scope of my belly (and my *ahem*colon*ahem*) in January, so hopefully we will figure it all out then. Since my hand surgery was already scheduled for next week, he wanted to keep that in place and give me some healing time first.

There was also nothing wrong with my MRI – the facial numbness is most likely from neck tension from stress. Now that my finals are over, I have to admit that it is a lot better. So I will keep an eye on that and wear my sexy bite guard thing when I sleep. Grrrrr… nothing says hot like wearing a TMJ bite guard! (Well, I guess that sexy wrist/thumb splint thing might be close. Hot. Damn hot.)

Tonight I plan to finish up some Christmas decorating, and make a list of the cookies and goodies we are going to bake this weekend. I have some shopping to wrap up, both in stores and online. I have some holiday visiting I hope to do too this weekend, but I have to take care of things at home first. Off to make my Santa list!
