Pretty, Pretty…

I keep meaning to mention that Brandy has been using some absolutely adorable graphics on her site. I love going to read the zen log because I never know what I will find – and today (well, she wrote it yesterday…) it was a lovely post that she wrote about the things she is thankful for – including me! Awww… I am always touched when I see things like that. Thanks Brandy!

It’s Official…

It’s official. I am the crazy lady with three cats now. Well, almost. Kitty is over at the vet right by my office building. I went at lunch time to pick her up and we went straight to the Vet’s office. I told Chelsey that moist cat food always gave my cats problems, but that’s what she fed her (assuming it’s a her) anyways, so now she is “Stinky-butt kitty”. They are doing a fecal test and a Feline AIDs test on her before I take her home to meet the other cats. They are also going to clean off her stinky butt. She is sooooooo pretty. Tortoise-shell orange, brown & black in color with these big gorgeous eyes. She likes to perch, I found her sitting on top of the wooden fence on the ledge. When I got her in the car she kept trying to climb up onto the dash. (yeah, brilliant woman didn’t bring a crate) I got her to sit on my lap the whole way over to the doctor’s office though. She was so calm & cool about me toting her around, and very mellow while sitting at the office waiting our turn. Mona would have been *freaking* out. I don’t think even Murphy would have been that laid back.

Three cats. What have I done? But she is such a pretty kitty, I couldn’t leave her behind, stuck outdoors with no one to love her. People really suck sometimes when it comes to pets.

Slow Cooker Recipes

It occurred to me that, like everything else, there would probably be some slow cooker recipes on the web if I just looked for them. Here are some of the sites I found:
Slow Cooker Recipes (Lots of other Recipes too!)
Carnegie Mellon’s School of Computer Science Crockpot Recipes (Hey, that’s what it says…)
Collection of Recipes
Just Crockpot Recipes (YES! I think we have a gold mine here!)
– and of course AllRecipes.com has some too!
MommySavers Recipes
Chef Mom’s Slow Cooker Recipes
Slow Cooker Souther Style
About.com Crockpot Recipes (Whew! Another ton of recipes site!)
The Kitchen Link Archive of recipes – lots of links to other sites.
Quick ‘n Easy Crockpot Recipes
Crockpot Recipe Index
Cooking Cache Recipes (Lots of good looking recipes … yum!)

Now I am craving my Beer Cheese Soup or some Baked Potatoe Soup. Yummmm… I’ll post my “successful” recipes, as I test them, in my cooking blog!

Let the Games Begin!

I started off my morning attempting to go to Best Buy at 7:20am. (They opened at 7) WHAT A JOKE. There was nothing in that ad that I saw that was that wonderful *except* the 25″ TV for $150. BUT … there was a line 3-4 people wide going across the front of the store and out into the parking lot. I pulled up to the officer working the door and rolled down the car window and asked “Is this the line just to get in?” He chuckled with that aren’t these people crazy look and said “Yep, sure is.” I laughed. I said even for $50-$75 off the TV, it wasn’t worth THAT.

Next it was over to Oshman’s to see if they had any Razor scooters left. Not for Christmas for Jason, he has one already at Nana’s house and I thought it would be sort of lame to give him something for our house that he has there. It was just a good cheap price. They were of course sold out.

Next I headed over to Service Merchandise, where I got everything I wanted. A 5″ Black & White TV with AM/FM radio for my Dad, a set of picture frames for my Mom’s birthday (Dec. 14), a small Lava lamp and a set of crystals to grow for Jason, a 102 piece set of silverware ($25! And I’ll finally have serving spoons that MATCH my silverware!), a 6 quart slow-cooker by Corningware with the removable liner (anyone have recipes?), and 3 nice Wilton cookie sheets. All for $120!

Then I went to K-Mart next door to see if they had any more scooters left. Nope. Oh well, I bet after Christmas I can find one cheap. I am kicking myself now because I didn’t get the Razor this summer for $30 on clearance – the nice $100 model. Oops. Oh well.

I have lots of small things that I have bought for Jason over the year, so I don’t have a whole lot of shopping left to do. I am thinking of getting him the Spyro Gameboy Advanced game from Target (on sale, but available through the website!) and the Star Wars Episode I DVD (on sale at Best Buy this morning, but thanks – I’ll pay the $7 extra!) I need to find a Christmas gift for Mom, and a Birthday gift for my Dad (Dec. 29) and that should be everything!

I am going to take an early lunch (yes, I am at WORK) and run over to Mervyn’s to see if they have any shirts left. There were some cute ones in the ad, but again I refuse to fight the lines unless they are nice enough to be worth it. Fortunately it’s all of 2 minutes from the office – heck, I could walk there!

We had a nice visit with my cousin Jeanette, her husband Brad, and the kids yesterday over in Beaumont. She made a *delicious* dinner, her house is very gorgeous, and the kids are adorable. I tried to convince them to let me bring Brandon home with me (he’s 19 months old) but they said no. Bummer. He’s adorable, as is Brittany. (5 years old) I took some photos, I’ll post them this weekend. I hope everyone had a wonderful Turkey Day and survives the holiday shopping crunch!
