Love it, love it, love it!

I love to read not martha. Just thought I should share that thought. Other than the soap making gig, I am very NotMartha-ish.

This Morning…

Got up bright and early and checked Jason’s blood sugar again. It was 93, which is within decent range for normal. After thinking about it & talking with my mom more about it, it seems that when he ate “Smarties” yesterday afternoon – can we say pure sugar??? At first she thought it was just 5 minutes or so before they tested him, so I thought there was no way it was in his system that fast. The more we talked about it though, it was probably closer to 15 or 20 minutes later, and it would make sense that his blood sugar would have spiked so high by then. Thanks, Mom, for scaring me like that… So I decided to monitor it more at home and take him to the doctor if there is a pattern of it being high. So far everything looks normal though, and I hate to subject him to a bunch of tests if all this was was a false alarm thanks to a package of “Smarties”.

The Ugh Update

Hmmm, well. We took Jason’s blood sugar again 2 hours after dinner – and it was 100. That’s a good sign. I am wondering if he had some candy or something towards the end of the school day that we didn’t know about when we tested him earlier. I am still taking him to the doctor in the morning – better safe then sorry. I’ll post more about it later.

Ugh.

Jason has had problems paying attention at school this year, especially in his afternoon classes. It’s really been an issue, more than ever before. Then, Saturday, while we were working on his Aztec village he was constantly thirsty – and I have noticed this before, that sometimes he drinks a lot of fluids. Today my mom & her friend decided to check his blood sugar. He had not eaten since lunch, 3 hours earlier … and it was 297. TWO HUNDRED AND NINETY-SEVEN. Whoa. Not a good thing. The ranges are supposed to be: Fasting: 105 mg/dl – 80 mg/dl, 1 hour after a meal: 190 mg/dl – 120 mg/dl, 2 hours after a meal: 165 mg/dl – 105 mg/dl, 3 hours after a meal: 145 mg/dl – 90mg/dl. Ugh. We have an appointment with the pediatrician at 9:30am. I hope & pray he isn’t diabetic (Insulin-dependent diabetes develops most often in children) but considering all of the signs seem to point in that direction I am scared that he is… Ugh. Tapping In To YOUR Privacy

The results of this survey are quite scary. As Kymberlie put it, people are going to be scared into giving up their civil liberties these days. Ugh. I hate that. Civil Liberties – isn’t that what America’s all about?
