In Memory…

We can’t cry hard enough… is a very well done memorial site, “A tribute to the Victims of September 11, 2001”. Jason Powers’ message: “I felt compelled to do something. So, I did what artists do with their emotions and energy: create.”

And to pixelkitty and everyone else out there that can’t understand America’s sudden zealous, “too much” display of patriotism… there you have it in a simple sentence. It is what some of us choose to do with our emotions and energy.

Jason’s work is beautiful. View it, pass it on.

Rude Ass Cat

The past 3 weeks (my God, has it been 3 weeks?) have been rough on a lot of people. So many people have chosen to show their patriotism by changing their site design to display the Stars & Stripes in some form or fashion. Heck, I did it myself with one of my skins. Because I felt it was right. Because it was what I needed to do. So it *REALLY* ticked me off to read pixelkitty’s slam comment regarding Catherine’s site. I will spare you the agony of waiting for pixelkitty’s site to load (it takes horribly long and I am on a T1 line right now… plus I hate to drive more traffic her way, but if you have to look, go here.) She only has one line there and it says this: “Some people really need [ help ]. Sure its ok to be patriotic, but this goes way too far. Trust me.” (The word help links to Catherine’s site.) NO. I will NOT trust you. Who the *uck are you to judge what is or is not “too far”? I have been admiring Catherine’s site for a week. I think it is wonderful. It is clean, the DHTML menu and the rest of the content LOADS FAST, it is pleasing to read. Her patriotism gave me a warm feeling. Pixelkitty lives in Australia according to her “contact” page. Maybe she just doesn’t understand how the Americans are feeling right now? Maybe it is just WRONG to attack someone verbally like that after what we have been through this past month? I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me. I know I have already criticized the people who are singing the national anthem at baseball games when they were silent before, or the sudden display of flags everywhere. My point wasn’t that the singing or the flags were wrong… it was that they should have been doing it ALL ALONG.

So, to be honest, pixelkitty can kiss my ass. (There, I said it for you Catherine.) I applaud all of the awesome patriotic sites out there. Thank you for showing your love for our country.

Google Giggles!

WTF??? How do I post about something one day and get indexed in Google and hits on it the VERY NEXT DAY??? I just don’t get it! But here are my latest amusing searches that have brought people to my site:

30 Sep, Sun, 11:04:33 Google: PICTURE OF FIREFIGHTERS PUTTING FLAG UP AT WTC – I think I wrote about that being a very moving photo, but I didn’t post a copy here. Sorry. It’s out there on all the news sites though
30 Sep, Sun, 11:18:06 Google: “world trade center” pictures near legs – I certainly hope that is meant in the boolean search manner of things, the “near legs” part, but what do legs have to do with the WTC?
30 Sep, Sun, 12:14:36 Google: zoolander twin towers – Yep, I think they should have left them in the movie.
30 Sep, Sun, 12:19:52 Google: blah blah – The requisite “blah” search.
30 Sep, Sun, 12:36:47 Google: zoolander new york skyline picture – Don’t have a copy of that. Sorry.
30 Sep, Sun, 13:22:42 Google: zoolander twin towers – Again?
30 Sep, Sun, 13:28:48 Google: blah – Again.
30 Sep, Sun, 13:34:27 Google: +pin +ribbon + wtc
30 Sep, Sun, 15:36:04 Google: wtc ribbon pin
30 Sep, Sun, 16:58:40 Google: As the soot and dirt and ash rained down, We became one color – I love that poem.
30 Sep, Sun, 17:01:18 Yahoo: jump dead man photo WTC – I think there would be something very wrong if I posted a picture of that here.
30 Sep, Sun, 18:16:10 Google: As the soot and dirt and ash rained down – Does anyone know who wrote that poem? I would like to give them credit.
30 Sep, Sun, 18:21:04 Yahoo: taliban opium colin powell million – Yep, we gave them millions to agree not to grow opium. $43 million. Smart move, huh?
30 Sep, Sun, 20:07:43 Google: greymatter pregnant pictures – I only have one pregnant photo, and trust me, you DO NOT want to see it. Then again, I might have burned it!
30 Sep, Sun, 20:53:05 Yahoo: angel in smoke wtc attack – Is that the drawing that was supposedly done by a student? Hmmm… not sure. Not here though, sorry.
30 Sep, Sun, 21:12:47 Yahoo: reese witherspoon snl – Uhm, HELLO??? Less than 24 hours after I posted about it I was hit by Yahoo on a search for it? That has me STUNNED.
30 Sep, Sun, 21:52:28 Google: “saturday night live” “mayor giuliani” “paul simon” – Wow. Another one!
30 Sep, Sun, 23:32:33 Google: “face in the smoke” WTC photo – Posted a link to it, you can search my archives for it. Not sure which day it was on.

At least there weren’t any toe queries, although there was one for legs. Close, but not the same as the “long toes pictures” searches that I am so used to seeing.

Running again…

Yummmmmm… that pizza was tasty! Now I am watching “Leap Years” as I finish up my blog run.

Analyzing Life – loving the “Where’s Waldo” look. I wonder if a framed design like that would work with my skins. Probably not.

My “Friday Five” on Sunday… (found on Analyzing Life from Smattering.org)
1. Laying on your back and facing the ceiling, which side of the bed do you sleep on?
The right side
2. Do you have to have covers (blankets and/or sheets) at all costs, no matter the weather?
I always have to have at least a light blanket. I can’t sleep with just sheets. I have been known to kick the covers off in my sleep, but I can’t fall asleep without them.
3. Sleep nekkid or no? Why?
Nope, just in case my son would come in in the morning. I prefer to sleep naked though, but don’t.
4. What’s under your bed?
Dust Bunnies, large pictures in frames, and I am sure there are some lost items waiting to be found under there…
5. If you have pets, do you let them sleep with you? Why or why not?
Mona sleeps on the left side of my bed most of the time. Murphy sneaks in and sleeps at the bottom of the bed if she doesn’t chase him off, otherwise he sleeps on the floor.

*smacks self on the forehead* – I just figured out who Around We Go… is, since she moved the site back to her domain. I didn’t know until tonight. Hehehe! She had me totally fooled.

Forgot to mention earlier that Sabby told me long ago that she had a hard time getting her Sims to have a baby. Jason played “The Sims” yesterday for about an hour and then came out and told me that his Sims had had a baby. Too funny. Later a kidnapper came along and snatched it though. Oops! Good thing because he didn’t feed his Sims and the parents starved to death! He sure was having fun…

After checking out Bluezfire I want to go to Tennessee. How beautiful. It’s funny that those menu bars are popping up all over lately. I had considered using one, but was afraid that it wouldn’t work well with the skins, so I haven’t added it. I think I have figured out a way though… Hmmm. We’ll see.

Happy belated birthday to Brooke! Loving the new design there too! Everyone seems to be making changes lately!

Fat Seanny rocks. Just an FYI.

I keep forgetting to tell DJ Wudi that I have been to the offices of Carbon Nanotechnoligies, Inc. (CNI) here in Houston. The company co-founded by Richard Smalley, the Nobel Prize-winning Rice professor. There was an article about them in Friday’s Houston Chronicle. I have even held a tiny jar full of nanotubes. It was COOL. They are one of our web design clients. Neato, huh?

Poodle Circus is now closed for Grey Day. I forgot that it was Grey Day. If I wasn’t afraid of messing with Greymatter, I would put up a grey day page myself. Please remember to respect copyright.

Have to say I agreed with Angela on being disappointed on how a pregnancy such as Rachel’s on Friends is celebrated, even though she is not married or even dating someone. Sad, very sad. Angela is not the only conservative one around here. I will admit I would prefer to see her keep the baby rather than have an abortion, and that every baby should be celebrated. I liked that Monica was pointing out all the reasons why it isn’t a good idea to her before she realized it was Rachel that was really pregnant. It will be interesting to see how they handle it this season.

Whew. That has been a lot of running. I am done for the night. I need to get some e-mails out, finish up a minor thing for work and then get to bed!
