Every time I read about “God Gave U.S. ‘What We Deserve,’ Falwell Says” I wonder to myself if jerryfalwellisafreak.com is taken. Or maybe just falwellisafreak.com? Grrrrr… Naomi wrote a great e-mail to him. I think I will do the same tonight. Intolerance breeds hatred, and there is no place for that in the world.

Damn. Even Naomi’s 404 page rocks. What’s up with that? How can she be so amazingly cool and wonderful without it rubbing off on me? Mannnnn…
Two Thumbs Up
Two thumbs up for Bryant Gumble, who I am watching right now on David Letterman. They are discussing the fine line between justice & revenge. He made a comment to the effect that to “bomb Afghanistan back to the stone ages” would be making the people already suffering under rule of the Taliban would only make them suffer twice. That he isn’t sure that it is a “logical, generous or even an American answer…”
By the way, my earlier post was not meant to sound like I am not “patriotic” – I hope id didn’t come across that way because that isn’t how I feel. I myself even considered looking for the flags at Wal-Mart tonight (I was in heels and my feet were killing me) but I heard someone say that they were still out. When they get them, I will buy one. I just hate knowing that some people are patriotic for the moment. I want to see it last forever. I am still very concerned about what civil liberties they will expect us to surrender.
Whoo hoo! You can order discounted tickets online for the the Texas Renaissance Festival! Open Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to Dark, October 6 through November 18, 2001. I wonder if Nicole is still coming over from Austin for it. Anyone else out there coming? I live only about an hour away, although it takes a little longer to get there those weekends! It’s a great drive out there, and I look forward to going this year! Let me know if you’re coming!
The World through the Cartoonist Eyes…
I enjoy going through PoliticalCartoons.com. The world, simplified. (Thanks to Candi for the link.)
The Rest of the Story…
Forgot to include this quote earlier from the Rally round the flag article: “While I’m not quite a pacifist, I have a pretty simple, even simplistic view of war: You don’t fight unless you’ve been attacked. So now that this country has been attacked, I agree with the vast majority that some sort of military response is warranted. This is a new feeling for me, this feeling that we’re the good guys and we’re fighting the bad guys. It makes sense that I’d want to fly the good guys’ flag, but that flag comes wrapped around a lot of baggage.”
I couldn’t have said it better myself.
