Software I have installed so far tonight: AOL’s Instant Messenger, LeechFTP, Corkboard Screensaver (which is great for leaving notes at work) and lots of Corkboard modules, and KaZaa. Hmmm… what next? Probably Homesite and Paint Shop Pro. Yeah, yeah, I should use Photoshop, but Paint Shop Pro was what I used first and am still most comfortable with. The Palm Desktop software. The Camedia software to get pictures off the digital camera.

Let me preface this by stating for the record that my regular computer at home died last spring. I have been working at home ever since off of an OLD HP OmniBook laptop. It is maybe a 166mhz Pentium (not Pentium II, mind you) and it is missing the M key. Yes, all of my blogging, all of my hand coding, everything has been on this ooooold laptop. But it’s my baby and I basically learned HTML on it. We have been through a lot.
It will miss me. I am now using my work laptop. A brand spankin’ new Dell Latitude. A Latitude with Attitude. This thing SCREAMS!!! OH MY GOODNESS! I am listening to an MP3 file through the laptop speakers and it is in awesome stereo sound. It has a DVD player – I could go plug it in in the bedroom and just lie in bed and watch DVDs. But the most amazing thing is how incredibly fast it loads web pages. Type in a URL, press enter, SNAP! You’re there.
Super J can send me MP3 files now through AIM and I can finally listen to them! Yippee! Speaking of Super J (aka John, but I like Super J better…) I am so jealous – he went to see Madonna last weekend. I asked him, if I flied to Virginia, would he smuggle me into the show. He didn’t think we could get away with it. So instead I sit here and listen to the Madonna MP3 files he sends me.
What a week. Tuesday I got to move into a regular office, all my own, with a door and everything. Today, Nextel phone so I can do the 2-way radio with everyone and then THE LAPTOP. Baby, I have arrived!
