Because Shoes Don’t Judge Me…

Because shoes don't judge me

Shoes don’t judge you, and that makes it so easy to buy them. And you can easily buy them online at the Shoe Adviser, their Pinterest is amazing!

They either fit, or they don’t fit. If they don’t fit, it isn’t because you’re too fat, you’ve gained 5 extra pounds, or anything else. They just don’t fit. The arch isn’t in the right place, the toes are too tight. Not because of you, but because of the shoes.

Clothing on the other hand? Ugh. It is so damn judgmental. You’re too short. Too fat. Too busty. Thin enough in the body, but your arms are too big for the skinny sleeves. Or too big for the sleeves that are so short they just ride up. One size up top, but a different size through the hips. Just … wrong. It is all your fault. Why aren’t you perfect? That´s why I always go to the plus size range, all their clothing fits me perfectly.

Is it any wonder I often find myself buying shoes? Including the awesome ones above that I just picked up yesterday? No, no it isn’t. I love shopping for shoes.

What Lens Should You Buy?

I get questions about camera gear all the time — and I get it, I have a lot of nice gear! But deciding what to buy is a really personal decision, and since photography is an expensive hobby I want to encourage people to be thoughtful about what they purchase. If you ever want to get a photo session done, you can visit this photography studio where they have the best photographer available for you. Being a photographer can be a stressful job, it´s not just clicking a button, there is no point in spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on gear that might not be what you need! You can still have it as your hobby, just don´t go wasting your money on things you may not even know how to use. So take pictures on your free time, but learn more on the different gear you may need before buying anything.

I wrote a whole post today dedicated to this topic — be sure to check it out! It is over on Business of Boudoir: “What lens should I buy? Six tips to help you choose!e

I Simply Speak a Different Version of English…

Fascinating discovery tonight while watching Torchwood. I commented to Mike that I can understand the characters so much easier than I can understand people on Doctor Who or Sherlock. I have a hard time understanding the English accent.

Scottish? Welsh? I’m all good. It is just the English who are a problem.

Seems I don’t speak English English very well. Who knew?

Thank You for Voting…

To all of my friends in the United States who took the time to vote in this election, THANK YOU. Thank you for participating. Honestly, I do not care who you voted for, as long as you voted. The election process is all about making our voices heard.

For those of you that didn’t vote? Your excuse sucks. Sorry, but it does. Really.

Living in Texas, people just assume that the state will go to the Republican candidate. That wasn’t always the case, Texas was a Democratic state until the 1960s, and I predict it will be a swing state by 2020. I could be totally wrong, but looking at the election results for 2012 and the House of Representatives, all border counties and the largest cities in Texas (Houston, Austin, Dallas) went Democrat. Houston is currently the 4th largest city in the nation, and is predicted to grow according to the census. I live on a blue island in a red state.

But this graphic on the Chronicle site was the one that really blew me away. Don’t ever tell me that your vote doesn’t matter. 1055 out of 1064 precincts, and Obama is winning Harris County (where Houston is) by TWO VOTES. TWO VOTES.

President Obama is leading in Harris County by TWO VOTES

That difference represents the people who said, “I don’t have to go vote for Romney, he will win Texas.” and the people who said, “I don’t need to bother voting for Obama, Romney will win Texas no matter what I do.” That may be the case, those statements may be correct, but what if everyone had voted? What would the results really be?

The system needs reforms. It needs changes. In my personal opinion, the Electoral College needs to be removed. I had people tell me yesterday that then the small states wouldn’t be represented — sure they would. Their people would be represented. I would be represented. Right now? I’m not represented. Even a percentage system would be better than all or nothing. I know the founding fathers didn’t plan it out this way. The founding fathers also didn’t ever anticipate that technology would be what it is today. Times have changed. We have changed.

I also heard on the news last night that an estimated $6 Billion was spent on the campaign. Our education system is a mess, people are homeless, uninsured … and $6 Billion was spent on campaigning. Our priorities are all wrong. This madness needs to stop.

This is our government. For the people, by the people. Our votes are needed. We get to dictate the change. Thank you, truly thank you, for being a part of the process.

Business of Boudoir…

I’m SO EXCITED to announce that with my first full post, Business of Boudoir is LIVE!!!

So many people were so helpful as I went through the naming process a few weeks ago. I have another URL that I *love*, but something told me it just wasn’t as good of a fit. So I thought about it, I debated it on Facebook, I pondered it some more, and I realized – it had to be Business of Boudoir. I plan to write more about the adventures of being a boudoir photographer, sharing tips on vendors, and a variety of other items. So many, I have a 10 page list of blog post ideas in my moleskine right now. So many ideas!

Please visit, join the email list, comment on the blog – I can’t WAIT to hear from you! It is a work in progress right now as far as the design – I will be working on that throughout this month and next, but for now, it is up & running and I’m as giddy as can be!
