Look What I Found!

I think I may have finally found an old copy of my site design! It was here on the server all along. Now I just have to figure out if it is the latest one, which was nice and compliant. Then to figure out how to add my Flickr thumbnails across the top (or ones from Pixelog, which is sadly in need of a HUGE update). Hmmmm…

Any CSS gurus out there with some tips and advice? I could really, really use the help!

Housecleaning…

Looking at my blogroll, I realize it is in serious need of a thorough cleaning. There are many blogs I read all the time not on there (mainly knitting blogs) and many blogs I never read on there. I always feel bad when I delete one though. You would think that after 5 years or so I would get over it. I started going through them last weekend, but there is a lot to do still.

I really shouldn’t beat myself up over these things though. It is just silly.

Hmmm… if I go back to the other design theme, I won’t notice it as much…

Replacing DPNs with the Magic Loop Method…

While I know how to knit socks on DPNs, and I feel all fancy and special when I do it because people are amazed by the little pickup stick looking needles, I personally prefer to knit my socks with the “Magic Loop” method. The main reason is that I tend to carry my sock knitting around in my purse, and I don’t have to worry about breaking a thin birch needle or the stitches falling off – instead, I move my work down to the loop and put it in my bag with peace of mind that all will be well when I return. Plus, if I’m just doing round-and-round circular knitting, I can do it in the dark of the movie theater or in class during boring lectures. (That was how I survived Biology I last semester, and I made an “A” in the class.)

Thanks to Sara’s ExplaiKnit site (a great resource!), I found a good link to explaining the mystery of the Magic Loop: How to knit small circumferences with one long circular. It really isn’t as hard as it might seem. If you have always feared the DPNs (you shouldn’t, but I understand why you might), but want to knit socks – give it a try!

(I also found a link to a Great Baby Sock Pattern at Sara’s site. I will be adding those to my things I want to knit list for my friends with babies!)

Get out! I won a movie ticket from Blingo, thanks to a friend winning a movie ticket. Get out! How cool is that? Want to sign up for Blingo and be my Blingo buddy? You can. Right here. You win, I win, it is all good. Plus it uses Google, the search engine we all love the most.

Abducted by Aliens Educate Me

Whoops. Change That.

Ok, I got it all wrong yesterday. Well, I was right in what they found from the scopes, but wrong about us finally having an answer. I wrote that right after I got home, but before I had spoken with the doctor, since I couldn’t talk to him when I was knocked out for the procedure. (Yeah for super happy fun drugs!) They called me yesterday afternoon, confirmed all of the things that they found … and then confirmed that NONE of those things accounts for the strange pain I get in my right side below my rib cage.

Which, of course, was hurting as I went to sleep last night and again as I woke up this morning.

We’ll discuss more options at my follow-up appointment, but really I’m ready to just throw my hands up in the air and be done with it all. I’ve had my fill of tests, procedures, and everything else in the past three months. I am tired of doctors. We know it isn’t my gallbladder and I don’t have bleeding ulcers or anything of that sort. They won’t do anything about the hiatal hernia because it isn’t causing me any problems (and never has), or any of the other issues.

Today I’m off to buy my books for the spring semester. Classes start next week, and Photography I is my first class on Tuesday (we are off on Monday). That has to be a sign that things will be off to a good start, right? (Chemistry II is Mon/Wed, Photography I and Biology II are Tues/Thurs and Trig is a distance learning class.)

Post-script – props to Don for the comment in my last post about attributing my medical madness to the fact that I was abducted by aliens. I needed a category for all this nonsense, so that is it. I finally got around to adding an “Educate me” category too. WP 2.0 with the ability to add categories on the fly rocks!
