I Am Looking Forward To… (30 Days of Lists: Day 3)

Next up for the 30 Days of Lists are things that I’m looking forward to. I’ve realized recently after meeting Me Ra Koh and working with Jeff Jochum that I generally don’t dream beyond the present moment. I’ve been working on it, but I am not there yet – so asking me what I’m looking forward to is a lot more pressure than you might think. Hmm… what am I looking forward to?

– Those few fleeting days of spring weather that Houston has each year
– SxSWi because I haven’t been in a few years
– The Mom 2.0 Summit
– Summer vacation with my family
– A trip to Galveston and time on the Gulf plus time on the Strand
– Returning to New Orleans
– My upcoming destination wedding
– My other work-related trips where I am lucky to get to spend time with friends
– Seeing Ann & Karl’s baby (I got them a Baby Trend Expedition Jogger Stroller as a gift)
– Returning to Belize
– Having my new logo & design materials done for Hot Mama Boudoir
– Moving to the Heights someday
– Good times with my family & friends
– Reading a good book from cover to cover in one day
– An empty Inbox and to do list
– Visiting Europe
– Making my boudoir business bigger than I’ve ever dreamed before
– Figuring out exactly what that means for me.
– Doing something even more with my life

Things I’m Good At… (30 Days of Lists: Day 2)

Today’s list is Things I’m Good At. I don’t know about you, but sometimes writing about things I’m good at is hard. I seem to be conditioned to find my faults so much easier than I find my own strengths. I’m working on that though! Definitely a perk of doing these lists!

I’m Good at…
– Photography
– Being crafty
– Loving
– Writing
– Being a friend
– Knitting
– Using a map (totally snagged from Campfire Chic)
– Blogging
– Making pretty graphics
– Procrastiworking
– Laughing
– Crying
– Baking
– Spotting Typos
– Giving Directions
– Twittering (Because that takes skillzzz!)
– Random trivia
– Remembering small details years later
– Singing loudly while alone in my car
– Dancing like no one is watching

The Weight Update, March 2011…

I forgot to weigh myself yesterday. After being in Las Vegas last week for WPPI and retaining so much fluid, I was obsessively weighing myself every single time I went into the bathroom and saw the scale, and so I told myself I had to stop. As a result, I skipped weighing in on March 1st. Oops!

BUT!!! I weighed in today, and I’ve now lost a total of 8.2lb since the start of 2011. That means I’m right on track, since my goal was 4-5lb a month for the year. Yay!!!

Biggest thing I’ve been doing? Drinking LOTS of water. My boudoir client that is a personal trainer told me to drink half of my weight in water each day, so I’m pushing to drink 100 ounces daily. It is hard – that is a lot of water! But I keep my big 20oz Starbucks thermo cup with me all the time and whenever it is empty I refill it. 5 of those a day gets me to my goal.

I think I was on the short list of people who didn’t come home from WPPI with the photographer plague, and I am crediting the fact that I only had half a glass of wine and one margarita the whole time I was there, but 60-80oz of water daily, with the fact that I came home unscathed! Well, that and I washed my hands a lot. I’m still surprised, since I definitely didn’t get enough sleep!

Plan for March: keep up the water drinking, more fruits and vegetables, and more walking each day. SXSWi is coming up this month, so there will be a few days with a lot of eating out, but as I learned from WPPI as long as I keep drinking water I should be fine!

A Little Bit About Me… (30 Days of Lists: Day 1)

I was inspired by 30 Days of Lists and decided to participate. Today is day 1. I may take some of these offline, but for now writing them here seemed just as easy, and I’d rather share.

List 1: A few things about yourself

  • Wife to Mike
  • Mom to Jason
  • Owner or owned by 4 cats: Mona, Maggie, Lincoln & Graham
  • I have the most wonderful and supportive family & friends and I’m grateful for them daily
  • I love being a Boudoir Photographer
  • I believe all women are beautiful
  • I passionately want to help women feel beautiful in their own skin, and I use my camera to help me do that, I also recommend the best acne scar treatment for those who feel intimidated by their skin
  • I like photographing weddings too, especially when we get to go to cool destinations
  • I’m still working to define my dreams and decide what I want to be when I grow up
  • Blogger of over 10 years here
  • I named WordPress, my only geek claim to fame
  • I’m an only child
  • I tend to overshare
  • I’m learning on a daily basis to love myself more
  • I love to knit with wool and I’m a fiber snob
  • My Mini Cooper (Horizon blue with a white top and white bonnet stripes) makes me smile every time I see it
  • I loved living in Germany in my early 20s and I hope to live in Europe again someday
  • I had a hysterectomy in 2007, and sometimes I still wish I could have a baby
  • Sometimes I’m glad I can’t have a baby because I love my life just like it is today
  • I taught myself to code HTML by hand in 1996 when I had nothing to do over the holiday season at work
  • While I’m better at it, CSS still makes my eyes bleed a little bit
  • I have decided I don’t want to edit this list to make it go in any sort of order that makes sense
  • I’ve learned to just do brain dumps lately and then just move on to my next task so I can get things done
  • I’m a piler, not a filer
  • I dream of living a minimalist lifestyle
  • I find it hard to get rid of things away because I spent money on the item or I have an emotional attachment
  • I want to move into a small bungalow style house with a porch in a neighborhood where I can walk or ride my bike to get places
  • Making lists is fun
  • I want to buy my studio building but I question whether or not I should or can
  • I love Houston but wish it wasn’t so blazing hot all the time
  • I miss living somewhere with seasons because I love fall, winter & spring so much
  • I’ve decided to accept that I’ll be living in Houston for many more years but I’m not always happy about it
  • I never finished college
  • When people say I’m successful I have a hard time agreeing with them – but I’m working on it
  • I want to find a BIG WAY to help women learn to be comfortable with their bodies, but admitting that I have this big dream scares me so I’m putting it at the bottom of my list
  • I want to learn how to dream BIG and then BIGGER THAN BIG and then make those dreams come true
  • I’m still learning to put words to my dreams
  • I am happy.

Hmm… seems I don’t follow instructions well since that is more than a few. Eh, whatever. I don’t want to edit it. I might even add to it someday.

Loving Myself & Losing Weight…

I resolved at the beginning of the year to work hard on losing weight. (Sound familiar? Yeah, I’ve said it every year for 6 years. *sigh*) I’ve already ramped up my water consumption a LOT and within the first 6 weeks of the year I’ve lost 6 pounds. Yay! But then, the plateau arrived.

Today is Valentine’s Day. And as much as I love my husband, my family & my friends, today? I’m going to focus on LOVING MYSELF. Because really, what better way is there to show them that I love them? Taking care of myself seems to be the best thing I can possibly do, so I decided I’m going to start exercising and eating more healthy.

It is scary to put it out there, but I am. My goal is to continue to lose 1 lb a week or just over 4lb a month. (And not lose & regain & lose it again – which is what I feel like I’ve been doing for the past year. Ugh!) I’m giving myself until next Valentine’s Day. I looked into some supplements like Forskolin, and have researched where to buy forskolin extract, and ordered some. I’m serious about this. Yes, for those of you playing along at home, that means I want to lose 52 pounds. I could *really* use your encouragement to make it happen!

In addition to the Robotic Spine Surgery, decompression may be performed to address other types of pathologies, such as infection or tumors.

I’m going to set a goal for each week, and then continue to build upon those goals. Goal for week #1 – drinking 100oz of water a day.

My biggest motivation behind losing weight is for my health. I think every woman is beautiful, just as we are — but I think it is important we take care of ourselves, that’s why I use the best neck products just for protection. Who wants to join me?!? Leave me a comment – lets cheer each other on!
