Where Did my Pictures Go?

I honestly feel like crying right now. I took a ton of pictures today at Space Center Houston. Some really cool ones too! The counter was counting down, noting the number of pictures I had taken. And I pulled the card out of the camera to pop it into the card reader … only to discover there was NOTHING there! What happened? Where did they go? Can I cry now? Some of them were priceless ones of Jordan & Jason too. Damn! I guess we’ll just have to go back again so I can take more. I’m just so sad that I don’t have any to share right now. Man! When I was carrying stuff upstairs earlier I think I put it in my purse, and it was sort of poking out of the top – right by the magnetic snap closure. I would be willing to bet that just zapped them right off of there! So before I head over to Austin, I have to make sure I change purses!

In Spanish…

I can honestly say I don’t think I have ever been blogged about in Spanish before! Wow. I find that just really cool! And the “sitios de estos dias” too!

Thanks to the same site, I found the Condiment Packet Museum … who has the time? The patience? And imagine all that ketchup!

And a Good Time was Had by All…

A full day at Space Center Houston, and we had a great time. Even took some photos that will end up in the Pixelog. I called Chelsey before we left the house to see if she wanted to join us, but she had other commitments. Her son didn’t though. He is almost 12, Jason is almost 10. I told her I would pick up Jordan & bring him along. She gave me full rights to beat him if necessary, so what more did I need? Ok, ok, I didn’t beat him. Actually, things went really well, much better then I could have hoped for! Nothing like Grossology (the *impolite* science of the human body) to entertain 2 pre-pubescent boys. That and the hour-long movie on life in the Space Station produced by the Discovery channel that I dragged them to. They were upset that they couldn’t play longer with the Fart-maker. Oh well. After we left the museum we headed back to Chelsey’s house for dinner. She had whipped up some tasty chicken fajitas for us. Then we zoomed home so that Jason could get to bed so he wasn’t grumpy at school tomorrow. By the time the fun was over I have the beginnings of a migraine. I took stuff for it, but it’s only been an hour. I take Excedrin for them, it works great normally and is all I need. Plus I bought a bottle of 875 the last time I went to Costco, so I have a lifetime supply. If necessary, I take Motrin 2 hours after I took the Excedrin. Perfect every time…

Earlier tonight, Doug said to Chelsey (both non-bloggers, the losers!) that I was just a “Power User”. Then I started babbling about Blogomania, DNS, Unix, Linux, Apache … and somewhere in there he said he was wrong and I was a geek after all. I just hide it well.

I wrote to Robyn about some other info and about fell off the couch laughing when she wrote me back and pointed out this post on Chris Pirillo’s blog. Irony? Yesterday, while Jason & I watched the Friday episode of Call for Help, I went to the TechTV site and showed him that my blog was listed right there. As a 9 year old geek-in-training, he was amazed and thrilled. (The TechTV article was another part of the conversation that prompted Doug to confirm I was a geek after all.) By the way, Chris? I actually OWN Styx albums. Vinyl. Too bad I don’t have a turntable anymore!

It’s Time for Lift-off!

We are heading out for an afternoon of fun and adventure down at Space Center Houston, The Official Visitors Center for NASA’s Johnson Space Center! The main reason we are going? The Grossology exhibit! Yes, yes, soon I will know more then I ever wanted to about all sorts of gross things! With such highlights as walking through a giant nose, visiting the Vomit room or playing in Toot-Toot Town to learn about the physics behind gas. Human gas. Or how about the 30-foot long slide tour of the digestive system? A giant version of the game Operation? Oh yes, this will be tons of fun! (Seriously, I am looking forward to it and I know Jason will have a blast!)

Just has to be Said…

Yes, it’s official. REI owns Jay’s ass. I remember trying to pack for 2 weeks with the EuroRail pass the summer I travelled around. I had the advantage of living in Germany at the time, which was a good thing. We headed to Salzburg and I had a backpack full of stuff … but none of the stuff I really needed. After 2 days in Salzburg I had to return to Germany for a doctor’s appointment – and I unpacked everything I had packed, packed the things I truly needed, and when I left after my appointment to head to Venice, Italy I was set. The only thing I ended up buying during my trip was a pair of leather sandals in Rome, Italy and a pair of beach sandals for about $5 in Cannes, France. Unlike Jay, the only special things I bought for my trip were a good backpack and a poncho (that I still use during rainy campouts). And film – tons of film! One day I will have to start scanning some of my photos for the Pixelog. I’m so envious of Jay & the fact that he gets to take this trip … it’s truly the chance of a lifetime!
