They Did Not Destroy Us…

From Everlasting Blogstalker:

As I left the Union Square, I turned back to look at all the people who’d come for a sense of community or to make a public statement. I’d never experienced anything like it. So much emotion, so many opinions, and yet all peacefully co-existing, even with the volatile tempers. And I realized the terrorists didn’t win. I know now they can’t. They destroyed buildings and planes and people, but they didn’t touch what we’re really about. We take our personal freedoms for granted, but you know what? That’s good. That means they’re so deeply a part of who we are as Americans, we can’t exist without them, we just won’t. Even I would enter hand-to-hand combat for the right to be an opinionated asshole.

Naomi & I were talking today, and she commented on how this was not just a national event but a global event. Looking through these photos made me realize that the WORLD is supporting us. I shared the links with Naomi, and I think I made both of us cry…

Can they? Will they? And how will it effect us all?

Can the United States Declare War on Terrorists?

I still haven’t heard from my ex-husband. He is stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC and at times like this I always worry about him. He & his girlfriend have a baby on the way – I hate knowing that he will probably be deployed, and how this will effect them. I guess it hits close to home for me since we were married one week before Kuwait was invaded and Desert Storm began. Then he had to go to Bosnia right after he got married a second time, and shortly after that that marriage ended in his second divorce. Hopefully that won’t happen to him again…
