No Hiding From Me!

I just have to love Meryl for finding such precious gems as the Top 42 Funny Ways To Answer Your Phone. Next time I get a call that has “Unavailable” or “Out of Area” listed, I think I might just try one of these. “911, What’s your Emergency?”

On a sort of related note, just last night I remembered the time when I was in high school and some girl gave out “her” phone number, promising that if they drove by she would do a striptease for them. My parents knew I wasn’t involved, I was camping at Enchanted Rock for the weekend with my Geology class studying with the new software here http://www.ctech.com/geology-software/. She had a phone ad on one of those personal phone services (1987, before the web as we know it…) and the number that she gave out all weekend long was my house! Someone finally told them what was going on, and after awhile (and LOTS of phone calls) my parents decided to have some fun with it – telling guys that she had been killed in an accident and they just couldn’t believe that they were calling her or something along those lines. I think my mom may have even gone so far to have told some of the guys that it was her. Or given out bogus directions. It was pretty amusing in the end. Then again, I’m always easily amused…

Sealed with a Kiss…

The medieval practice of illiterate peasants signing an “X” in place of their name required a witness to kiss this mark to prove sincerity. this eventually evolved into the “X” being a shorthand symbol of a kiss. Wow, bet you didn’t know that, did you? [via Marmalade Maermaid]

Anti-Bloggies…

The Anti-Bloggies winners have been announced… but only two of the people I voted for won. *sigh* I didn’t win my coveted “Most Updated Blog” award. Maybe next year… I have to say though that I had a lot of fun with the Anti-Bloggies – it was fun stuffing the ballot box and begging Davezilla for an award. And really, isn’t that what the Anti-Bloggies are all about?

Chris Pirillo, Look Out…

Chris Pirillo had better watch it, I think my son Jason may be going after his job soon. I’m not sure if I exposed him to too much TechTV this weekend or what, but I knew I was in trouble when he was working on his chart for his science fair project this afternoon. I was in the kitchen unloading the dishwasher as he sat at the table working on the laptop. All of the sudden he exclaimed, “I LOVE TECHNOLOGY!” I couldn’t help but laugh. Such enthusiasm, over the cut & paste functionality in Word!

I started thinking “TechTV needs a kids show!” Then I realized that kids pick up this stuff faster then adults, and after watching the Call for Help episode from earlier this week about the wireless networks he already understands how ours works. They don’t need a dumbed-down show at all!

I love technology!

While Reading…

While reading Melly’s blog, it always makes me stop and think. And remember. Somedays I feel like she’s wearing my old shoes that I have walked many miles in. It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since I’ve been faced with the same choices, the same labels, and the same emotions. In many ways it seems like just yesterday, and at other times it seems like a lifetime ago. I made my decisions, and I have never had regrets about most of them. And no regrets about the most important one of all. The miracle of life is a wonderful thing.
