I’ve got 24 hours in Portland, Oregon africacasinos and I’ve got a pretty short list of things to do or see in the area. If you had 24 hours in Portland, what would your absolute MUST SEE things be? Help me make a list!

@christinebpc Powell’s. If you’re like me, you’ll have to tear yourself away.
Rent a bike, visit Powell’s bookstore. Voodoo donuts. Pine State Biscuits. 🙂
Salt & Straw Ice Cream, Pip’s Original
I can’t do the Voodoo doughnuts – I just checked, no gluten-free option. I’m avoiding Powell’s because I went there in July, and now the Mini Cooper is full and there is no room for more books. (Because I bought them all in July!)
Where else? I’m doing Killer Burger (mmmmm…) which is gluten-free if I leave off the bun.
Amancay Maahs does Pip’s Original have a gluten-free option? (Although I’m not supposed to have sugar or carbs. I’m willing to have a taste though…)
hrm… if you like good CHAI, hit up Pip’s Original anyway, (Nate, any GF recommends?)
Elaine (what are GF must hit places in Portland?)
if you want to maybe dance some of it all off, I would whole-heartedly recommend bopping in to a class at PulsePDX too! 😀
I don’t want to hit just the food places — especially since I have some gluten-free meatatarian options already planned. I want to know what landmark things I should be sure to see though! 😀
Even nearby. I’m heading to Cannon Beach when I leave and visiting the coast.
Cathy Empey liked this on Facebook.
do you have a date? (if it’s midweek, perhaps heading towards my direction (hitting Multnomah Falls along the way?)
Today. I have mentoring calls tomorrow, so I’ll be spending half of that indoors in Portland. Then Wednesday I head for Cannon Beach.
uf… the rain is killer.
It would be my new sister, Sydney Sloan! May not be as interesting to you though, 😉
Though she may have some great suggestions
I know! Glad I drove the Columbia River Gorge yesterday and stopped from time to time then!

Robyn O’Rourke Pollman, sadly – no gluten free options. I can’t do the Voodoo.
Oh no fair – there’s no way I could go there without a stop even if it meant cheating! 😉

You leave the car downtown, rent a bike and after touring downtown (and its food carts!) Head over the Broadway bridge into the Eastside and cruise through the Alberta and Mississippi neighborhoods (stopping periodically for coffee, of course) before heading back west. Then take a walk up 23rd and take your pick of restaurants.
Oh, Christine! Portland is incredible. My 24-hour trip would HAVE to include:
-People watching in Jamison Square (Pearl District – great place for photos)
-Powell’s Books (of course)
-Across the street from Powell’s is Living Room Theater, where you can kick back on a sofa and order dinner while watching a movie
-The Japanese Gardens up on the hill are stunning. Great views of downtown. The Chinese Gardens are right downtown, and fairly incredible, too.
There are a couple of Paleo food carts: http://culturedcavemanpdx.com. The Alberta one is in my neighborhood, so if you end up going, let me know!
Courtney Patubo Kranzke, want to meet up at Alberta for a late lunch tomorrow? 🙂
Oh drat, I already have (late) lunch plans for tomorrow. Any chance we can meet for a coffee or drink at another time of day?
Courtney, absolutely! I have calls in the morning tomorrow but I’m free all afternoon!
Okay, I’ll PM you!
And if I were in Portland I would probably try to find where my grandparents lived when I was a kid. We never went there because those were our moving around Army days.
We have a local guide from Sara Gray on Entouriste! Here are some ideas for you: http://www.entouriste.com/slideshow/portland-oregon-local-guide/
Back to Eden Bakery is amazing for gluten free stuff.
If you want to get a chance to SEE the city, visit OHSU, and check out the balcony near where the tram leaves, to go to the lower set of buildings. The view is truly spectacular.
Another incredible view spot is Council Crest Park.
For some interesting culture, check out the Classical Chinese Garden. They also have a fun little tea room.
Washington Park is beautiful.
Pittock Mansion is not far from Washington Park.
NW 23rd, for shopping.
Andina for dinner.
Robyn O’Rourke Pollman it is super easy to not cheat with the doughnuts when flour makes me as sick as it does. 🙁 Flour free since Dec. 2011. So crazy! I would have never thought I could do it!
