A Bit Neurotic, Are We?

As I read through Robyn’s “Top 25 in 2002” list, I was reminded of her whole food neuroses thing, and I just had to giggle about one of my own.

I can’t stand it when the margarine, butter, soft cream cheese, whatever is uneven. When I scooped out margarine to put it on my sandwich earlier before putting it in the sandwich maker machine, I had to do this swirl thing that must be done to keep it level. It has to be level. Absolutely no big scoops of margarine out of my container – and if you do it, I’ll sit there and make it smooth and level again. Can’t stand it any other way.

So, what sort of neurotic food issues do you have? Come on, you can share. It’s ok – I don’t bite. Well, only if you say please… So talk to me!

Oh yeah — SO with you on that one! And when I find bread crumbs in the butter after Todd’s had toast, I have to get them out RIGHT THEN. Crunchy butter just gives me the heebies.

Heh, I have tons, but mainly this:
I like my steak a rare filet. I get not only the heebs (hey NICE to see someone else use the HEEB word, my husband’s a German and he doesn’t GET it 😉 ) but I get flagrantly POed when there’s fat all over my rare steak. Is it just me? Or is the WHOLE POINT of buying a filet to avoid the rare FAT?

Additionally, I do NOT do any sharing of dairy products. You come in and take a sip of my milk, bite of my ice cream or cereal, and you bought it, baby.

I canNOT eat/drink dairy products after others. That’s just nasty.

Um, Angel? Just dairy products? So, like, if I wanted a bite of your apple, you’re okay with that?? Goof!

My only food neurosis is that my food can’t touch… I love plates with the separator thingies on ’em…My uncle SO grossed me out on Christmas, when he took a BIG spoonful of corn, and dropped it right on top of his mashed taters and gravy, which is something my grandpa used to do…EWWW. (And yes…I actually would eat mashed potatos separate from gravy…I’m that weird about food touching)
