Knit, Purl… How?

To continue with my knitting theme, which method do you use? Continental or Throw Method? I’ve TiVo’d the latest episodes of Knitty Gritty and watching them knit helps it all seem so much clearer.

Then again, actually getting out the yarn and needles would probably help too… If only I could find where I put my Stitch n’ Bitch book!

Purge, Purge, Purge!

When we moved into the house, I felt like I was moving things that I didn’t really need – but I was all out of time to purge anything more. The rest of 2004 was just … craaaaazy. Now it’s a new year, and I’m full of new resolutions – one of which is to purge, purge, purge! Just like I read over at FlyLady, you can never clean clutter – it just keeps getting in the way!

I’m also anxious to be crafty. I have some cards I want to make, yarn to crochet another scarf, and knitting needles so I can finally learn how to knit. Question for the knitters out there – what do you recommend for newbies? The aluminum needles? Plastic? Bamboo? Is one easier to learn on over the other? Suggestions are welcome!

Yesterday…

Yesterday was a rather fabulous day. Matter of fact, most of this week has been pretty good. I’ve been busy cranking things out for work, and doing tons of housework organizing things. I love it when the house is clean, and we’ve been working on systems to keep it that way. There is even a little FlyLady involved.

On top of that, I got girly time yesterday. And I got to buy new bras! Pretty – and comfortable – underthings are always nice. I’ve put off shopping for them, but when the last good bra had an underwire pop, I caved in. While out, I discovered that everything in the entire mall is on sale! (Ok, not everything, but it seemed that way.) I got an adorable shirt that goes well with my brown slacks for $10! I love a good deal.

Today? Not so good. For silly and trivial reasons, I’m stuck in a back and forth battle that really makes no sense whatsoever. It frustrates me, and it really makes me sad as things have been so good. *sigh*

So I’ve had days of giddy, bubbly happiness … so today has been somewhat of a letdown. And you know what? That sucks.

I wish it was yesterday all over again.

Charlie Harper Sucks!

Normally when you watch TV shows and they show internet related (or really computer related) stuff on the show, the get it all wrong. I normally mock them for getting it so wrong. Finally, someone got it right! Two and a Half Men had an episode a few weeks ago where, thanks to Google, Charlie found out that there was a website revealing to all the world what a womanizer he was. Then they actually say the domain. Of course, what do I do? I grab the laptop and enter the domain.

CharlieHarperSucks.com

It looks identical to what they showed. They used the real thing. I’m so impressed!

Then he asks Alan if they can tell who runs the site, and Alan does a whois on the domain! Of course, he says it is owned by a company in the Caymens, and it’s actually owned by Warner Bros., but … man. Finally a show that got it right.

I guess I should add that they got the webcam all wrong – I’ve never seen a webcam that displayed such a smooth image. Aren’t webcams still relatively choppy with their display?
