I Feel the Love…

Kymberlie posted for 24 hours yesterday for Project Blog in order to raise money for Heifer International. She called us mid-afternoon to ask us for inspiration on what to post. Unfortunately – we were short on inspiration at the time. She finally found her niche though and offered up a ton of mp3s and delightful little stories to go with them. (It’s not too late to sponsor her, by the way. Just visit her site.)

At one point, she wrote about the Peta “Bad Cats” – which always causes me to laugh like a crazed fool. (Please spay or neuter your cats. Overpopulation is a problem that can be fixed.)

It also brought back memories of when AdCritic was still free and we would watch the Bill Clinton video over and over again. I couldn’t help but make my request, and in no time at all she found it for me. Clinton made the “Lame Duck” short for the 2000 White House Correspondents Dinner. I laughed so hard I cried when I watched it again. Ah, the good ol’ days…

“Hello, White House … hold please… Hello, White House, please hold…”

Testing …

Another fabulous feature of WordPress is that I should be able to write posts that appear in the future. If it works like I thin kit should, then this post should appear at 11:07, all on it’s own. I’m writing it at 10:54. Now I just have to wait and see…

By the way, the reason for this test? Tomorrow, this site will participate in the Virtual Book Tour, featuring an interview with the author M.J. Rose about her new book, The Halo Effect. You can also read the first chapter of the book online. It is truly one of those books that once you start it, you can not put it down.

I’m Easily Amused…

While spellchecking an e-mail that I was sending through Thunderbird, it told me that “Firefox” was a misspelled word. Now really, if you were designing a software package, wouldn’t you make sure that the name of your other software package wasn’t considered a misspelled word? Come on guys … Firefox should be in the Thunderbird dictionary!

A Little Linguistic Quirk…

Isn’t it funny to think about how some things stick? Mike and I were watching the ending of the Tour de France, and Lance Armstrong was wearing an earpiece.

Mike asked, “Is that a Walkman in his ear?”

It wasn’t, it was only one cord, so I am sure it’s some device he uses to talk to the team or the coach. However, it amused me. Walkman? Who owns a Walkman anymore? We’re all about iPods (I spotted some of the white headphone cords on the riders) and other brands.

But after all the years, a “Walkman” is no longer a brand. It’s a generic term. It’s a devise that pumps sound in to your ears, no matter what the brand. I wonder how much that has hurt Sony in the long run? No one cares if their Walkman is a Walkman anymore, as long as it’s good.
