I just discovered that Blogger is looking to hire someone for Customer Support. Damn, what a bummer that I don’t live in the Bay Area, I’d apply! [via Avocado Couch]

The Magick Box…

Kymberlie mentioned earlier that she was getting a lot of traffic from a site that has no link to hers. She said it was a strange site … but this, The World’s First “Digital Drug” seriously takes strange to a whole new level. And the photographs? Hello? I want to see proof that those kids in the second picture are really over the age of 18. The girl looks like she’s about 12! Good God, that’s just bizarre!

However, there really is no link to Kymberlie’s site on the home page that I can find. Now I’m off to order my very own Magick Box because “heightened relaxation and reduced anxiety help make you a sexual superstar!”

Help.

I went to install a copy of MovableType 2.21 tonight. I’ve been reading the instructions, and I was all ready to do it. Until it came time to set up the MySQL database. Uh, help? Anyone? Our server uses Cpanel, but beyond that I don’t have a clue about how to set up the MySQL database. So if you have any suggestions I would love to hear them! I was working on a fresh new site for someone else, so there aren’t any files to get in my way. After I tackle that one, the upgrade to my sites is coming. After I back up all the sites. First I need some MySQL tips! Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Picture the Poster…

When I was in Boston I took both a digital and a 35mm version of this photograph. I really liked how it came out, and I wanted to test the poster capabilites of my local photo lab, so I ordered a 16×20″ and the 20×30″ print of it, both made from the 35mm negative. Yes, two sizes of the same photo – I wanted to make sure I could accurately compare the quality of the print, and I had to use the same print for both. I’ll hang one in my dining room I think and one over my desk at work because they both came out GREAT. Yes, the 20×30″ has a slight grain effect to it, but it is very slight. So slight that you would only notice it (I think) if you were looking for it closely. I’ll be taking them to the office to let the graphic designers inspect them tomorrow – that way I’ll get an opinion that is a little less biased then mine.

When I picked the posters up I also picked up my roll of film that was in my car when it flooded last summer. Yes, the camera was on the floorboard, so it flooded too. I couldn’t find anyone to safely pull the film for me, and I ended up putting the camera away and forgetting about it. When I came across it this weekend I took it in to the closet and opened the back of the camera and manually wound up the film. (The camera rewind wasn’t working.) The pictures came out with a rather interesting “surreal” effect to them. Some have crystal or two on the image. They were beach photos of Jason, and some would have been good if they hadn’t been through the flood. Some of them end up being sort of artistic in a way. I will see if I can scan them in to give you a sense of the effect.

I also dropped off some of my negatives from Europe. Photographs of Venice, Rome, the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, Germany… photos that were otherwise lost. I’m glad I finally found those negatives. Cis brought up a good point in my comments that I thought about after I finally found the negatives – maybe I should put them in a safety deposit box. Yes, to me photographs are priceless, and I would hate to lose any of them.

Moral Delimnia…

I found myself in an interesting situation last Friday night. Here’s what happened … from there, I’m interested to know what *you* would have done if you were in my shoes. Tomorrow I’ll post what I did. Ok? Ready to play along?

9pm at night or so last Friday night I was leaving the office. There were still some co-workers at my office and a few other cars in the parking lot. Even though I was parked right next to the door, I was walking very cautiously because I noticed a pick-up truck further out in the parking lot and someone was sitting on the bed of the truck. A car was pulling in to the parking lot and driving over to the truck to pick the guy up. (He sounded a bit drunk and rowdy too.) As I paused to make sure I had my keys in one hand and was ready to go quickly to my car, I noticed that there was a black laptop bag sitting next to the large (3 foot tall) flower planter outside of the office door. A lot of people stop and stand by this planter while they smoke, so I’m sure someone has set the bag down and forgotten it. The car leaves with the guy in it, so I’m alone. I called my co-worker, Brian, and told him about the bag. I opened it up to discover there was a laptop inside, along with a $350 check and a pad of blank checks with a name, address and phone number on it.

So … you take it from there. What would you do?
