Tiaras ROCK!

Emily did a great job coordinating yet another wonderful Tiara Happy Hour yesterday! I came home to pick up Kymberlie (I was her designated driver for the night), and then we headed back in to downtown for a night of silly fun with the girlies! Tiaras and all!

Photo snagged from Natalie. Click for larger image.

We had a great turnout this time:
:: Emily, the hostess with the mostess
:: Sarah, who – along with Michelle & I were in attendance for the inaugural Tiara HH
:: Elaine, who swapped work rant stories with me.
:: Jenn, who I learned a few months ago had worked at the same job I did when I first entered the legal field 49 Reception Desk alumni! w00t!
:: J-Mo Jen, who I haven’t seen in person for way too long.
:: Natalie, my twin (we were both wearing black turtlenecks). I’m so glad we finally got a chance to talk for more than a few seconds!
:: Robin, new to the group and a new Mom!
:: Angela, owner of the coolest Mini Cooper EVER.
:: Kymberlie, my former siamese twin (aka co-worker) so it’s wonderful to be able to spend time with her – and I’m so glad she got to come out, relax, have a good time and meet everyone!
:: Katie, who is always a hysterical riot to be with. SXSW04! I can’t wait!
:: Audra – this girl knows how to PARTY!
:: Syd. I love Syd. Something about her makes me so happy and makes me feel good. In this natural, easy-going way. Mwah!
:: Kimberly, who I have been really looking forward to meeting in person – and I wasn’t disappointed!
:: Kathy, who I *still* forgot to give her (very belated) birthday present to! GAH! (I’m sorry Kathy. I suck.)
:: Sean, our token male guest. I’m amazed he put up with our crazy antics!

Several people have photos up from the night – I brough my camera, only to discover the battery was dead! However, whenever there are bloggers, there are sure to be cameras around! Taking photographs even of the poor drunk guy who passed out on the couch. Poor drunk guy…

Everyone always says, “I wish I lived there so I could come too…” Why not organize one of your own? It doesn’t have to be tied to bloggers – if you don’t know any or you live in an area where there aren’t any other bloggers, that’s ok. Grab your friends, grab tiaras, get together to swap tiaras and just enjoy being together. Celebrate the inner princess that deserves a tiara! Let’s make the Tiara Happy Hour an event from coast to coast and around the world!

Thank you again to all of the girls who made the night so special. I can’t wait for the next one!

Beautiful Fun…

Remember cutting out paper snowflakes when you were in school? I love snowflakes – matter of fact, my Christmas tree always ends up with a ton of snowflake ornaments – I can’t get enough of them. So I’ve now made countless “paper snowflakes” online, thanks to Make-a-Flake Wheeee! What fun! [mad props to Kristin]

For your amusement and laughter: Mom Finds Out About Blog. Thank goodness the day my Mom found mine wasn’t quite that traumatic!

The Little Things…

I’ve met a number of people participating in the Urban Tribes Virtual Book Tour in person – mainly at SXSW. They are all wonderful and amazing people, and genuinely really nice. Even still – my heart skips a beat when I see my name on Matt Haughey’s site. He is the latest stop on the Virtual Book Tour. Matt goes more in to how Urban Tribes exist in the blogosphere, another spin on the whole thing.

In case you missed them earlier in the week, the tour also stopped at James McNally’s Consolation Champs, Geoffrey Long’s Inkblots Magazine, Shannon Okey’s Bitter-Girl (one of the few Boston bloggers I haven’t met!), and tomorrow the tour will wrap up at Heather Champ’s hchamp. It’s been really interesting to see everyone’s feedback and opinion on the book.

Modern Day Garage Sales…

This morning we had a garage sale at my parent’s house, and in addition to the usual things, I sold Jason’s crib and changing table. The crib was Child Craft crib that retails in the $800 price range, under the category of best pos. We had a sticker on it for $200 for the whole set. It’s a great crib – it even converts in to a junior bed with an extender for when the child outgrows a crib.

A few people came by and were interested in it, but eventually the “right” people came by. A soon-to-be grandfather that lives around the corner from my parents came over to check it out. Then the mom-to-be came over to check it out too. I jokingly told her I could even take a credit card for payment. When they decided to buy it, we did just that! I logged in to PayPal and sent them a payment request for $200 (we were holding the crib until tonight so they could pick it up) and they went home and sent me the money through PayPal!

I also have an account through ProPay that allows you to process credit cards on the spot as if they were regular merchant payments – no different then when a cashier swipes your credit card at the store. I would have used them, but it’s a 3.5% transaction fee, and PayPal is under 2%. PayPal seemed to be the better choice for this transaction.

Garage sales have even come in to the Internet age!

Halloween Homework…

Really? No one has any Halloween Thoughts they want to share? Come on, it’s Halloween! Did everyone have parents that just locked them up in the basement and didn’t let them go out to trick-or-treat?

I’ll go first by answering my own questions:
– I’ve already shared some of my favorite memories from Halloween.
– I only dress up now for the costume parties, but maybe I’ll dress up in last year’s purple haired witch costume to trick-or-treat with Jason tonight.
– I am planning on going to a costume party this year at EJ’s, but I can’t tell what my costume is. The theme for the party is “Dictators & Terrorists” – what do YOU think I should dress up as?
– My favorite Halloween candy is a toss up between the large Tootsie Rolls and the mini Reese’s peanut butter cups. I absolutely hate the peanut butter things in the orange and black wrappers.

So, how about you? Trick-or-Treat!
