The Clapotis, complete! Made using 7 balls of Plymouth Yarn “Bella Colour” in color #17, a blue/grey blend. The yarn is 55% cotton/45% acrylic and can be machine washed. I used a US 6 Addi Turbo, but in hindsight I wish I had used a US 7. It was very hard to work on this again after working on the lace – the yarn did not have a lot of give, and it was noticeable because I felt like I was forcing every stitch when I picked it back up to work on it.
I already have the yarn for the next Clapotis I will be making – the Blue-Faced Leicester yarn from Paradise Fibers in the Bordeaux color that I love, just like Julia’s beautiful Clapotis. Matter of fact, I bought the yarn while sitting next to her in a panel at SXSW!

It may have been harder to work on, but it looks great! And it might be nice to have a clap you can wear out that you know you will be able to clean easily – like after the rodeo or something. You’re going to love the Bordeaux. Now I gotta go check out your lace.
You’ve inspired me to pick up my sadly neglected mini-clap and knit 8 rows on it last night. Right now I’m using the Novelty Boutone Pure Wool “Fiesta” from handpaintedyarn.com and it is so freakin’ irritating to work with. Purty, but pissy at the same time.
And I just checked out Paradise Fibers? OMG, but I *love* herb garden!
what the heck is a clapotis? or have you written what it is in some other post? I’ve never even heard of it, much less knitted one.
Jafer, it’s a scarf/shawl thing from knitty.com – clapotis.
Gosh darn it! I changed your name AGAIN! Sorry about that, Julia! (Now off to fix my post…)
Very nice! I have the pink Blue-faced sheep yarn for my daughter’s Clap, I ripped it once and haven’t restarted yet. I’m planning on going to Kid N Ewe on Sat. Are you still coming? We should plan something.
