Diva Wannabe…

Another gorgeous day outside, and I still love the view of downtown as I come over the viaduct bridge – everything is sparkling and crisp against the vibrant blue sky.

Sitting at a red light, I wondered why the woman in the car behind me was making such an odd face. Was she crying? Wait. Her mouth is wide open. She’s singing, with all her heart. Then she did it – she made the diva hand gesture! Yes, right there at the red light, hand in the air, almost like she was waving but not really. The diva move made me giggle and I amused myself by trying to figure out which Whitney Houston song she was belting out.

If I lived in Houston, that could easily be me. I don’t always do the Diva move, but I do sing harmony, and I’m so loud people can hear me when the windows are rolled up. Thank goodness I can half sing.

You don’t do that? Oh hell, I’m sure people think I’m on crack when I’m driving cos I not only sing full-out, but I dance too. And like Annessa, I do harmony too. Though most of the time, I’m that tortured-cat sound you hear.

Whitney didn’t sing that song! Denise Williams did!

::cough::

Did I just say that? Outloud?

I sing ALL the time in the car. It’s the only place where I can do it, and not have to listen to the dogs howling in pain from my voice. 😉

I sing in my car too – but it was the obviously all-out, long high notes, diva hand gesture that cracked me up. I’m almost positive it was the Titanic theme song. Had to be.

On the other hand, I had just finished singing along to DaVinci’s Notebook song, “Internet Porn”!

yep yep me too. i sing more in the morning on my way to work than on my way home. i have been alternating between the radio and NPR recently, and i am much more relaxed when i can belt out songs on the radio.

That is funny! Why is it when we get in our vehicles we let loose like no one can see us? I don’t do the hand gestures, but I have been known to go to town singing a song. I always wonder if someone is wataching me and laughing. Although, when the cars are at a complete stop, I sing to myself…no lips moving, because I don’t want someone to see me!

i just got back home from houston yesterday and i know just what you mean about coming up to that skyline.

i made my first visit there last year and was left breathless by my first sight of it. i found it heart-breakingly beautiful and felt like i had to memeorize everything about it.
