I find it exceptionally thoughtless and impersonal when people actually e-mail “thank you’s” for a gift. It’s gotta take them at least 30 seconds! Is there any professional source explaning the discourtesy of this which I can access and e-mail to them next time this happens? I don’t think people realize how rude this is.
