The Assignment:Houston theme for this month on Flickr is Good Eats. The goal was to take photos of restaurants or the food they serve. As much as I have wanted to explore food photography, I have only really tried it once and I didn’t do very well at it.
Today, taking photographs of Mike’s lunch was a different story. I have to admit it – I adore this photograph. I could learn to really, really enjoy taking pictures of food. Add it to my growing list of things I want to do.
For those that might wonder, the details:
Location: Cricket Caffe & Creamery in the Heights on 19th Street
Food: Hot Tomato Caprese Sandwich, with tomato, mozzarella, mustard vinaigrette, and fresh herbs on lemon-thyme bread
Report: He said the sandwich was pretty good – once he finally got to eat it, after I took 10-15 photos of it.

Fun! I bet flickr meetups are fun. What I’d try for food photog. like that is a small point n’ shoot with the small gorillapod, no-flash, and to reduce shake (cuz the small gorilla pod does quiver), use like a 3-second self-timer, and do macro. I’ve been doing that a lot in restaurants and it’s been working good. It’s Fun anyway. 🙂
I love looking at photos of food. I’m always too chicken to actually take photos of it in the restaurant for fear they might kick me out or something. They are weird about that around here. You did a good job though, I’d eat that.
I also wanted to tell you that I have had you linked for ages on my links page, and I’m redoing my site and moving you to my main page:)
Looks yummy!
As does your site
thanx…Z
This was Houstonist’s photo-of-the-day for today (Wednesady, the 28th)! Congrats!
I spotted that earlier when I checked out Houstonist! Caught me off guard – I wasn’t expecting to see it! Thanks for letting me know!
