I can’t decide if I should laugh or cry – this scale model of Hooterville, home of “Green Acres,” is hysterical! What would possess someone to build that? And once you get the “Green Acres” song stuck in your head, is there any way to get rid of it? [via J-Walk]

I know where these people are coming from…model railroad junkies! I know, I am married to one, and I had better not let him see that website, or else he might be building a Hooterville of his own!
We got married up in York Beach, Maine, and there used to be a trolley that ran through there a hundred years ago. A lot of the old buildings are still there, including the inn where we stay, the Union Bluff Hotel, and Goldenrod Kisses.
Now Mike wants to build a scale model of York Beach, with the trolley car, and he made me take pictures of all of these buildings at a thousand different angles.
How to get the song out of your head? I don’t know…right now I have both the “Green Acres” and the “Petticoat Junction” songs alternately running through my head! LOL!!!
I’ve always thought that the Green Acres theme song would make a great ska song … why oh why hasn’t it happened yet?! 🙂
Um, wow! That took some time, I’m sure.
Lots of people in this world have an awful lot of time on their hands.
At least they’re doing something with all that time.
That song will never leave your head once it enters in! The California State Fair uses the “Green Acres” tune for its theme song, with different lyrics. I end up walking around at Fair all day singing “Greeeeen Acres is the place to be…. Faaaaarrm living is the life for me…” It’s such an annoying song!
Just wondering but do you have the lyrics for the california state fair tune? The one that uses the green acres theme song just with different lyrics?
