It’s a Small World…

Today was the first day at the long-term temp job that hopefully will turn in to a permanent one – and I loved it! I had a really great day, I think I shocked the attorney with the amount of work I produced, and I had fun. I have said for a long time that I miss the corporate world and that I miss the legal world, and today really drove that point home.

I went to the food court in the mall attached to the office building – yes, there is a small mall in downtown Houston and it is connected to the building I am working in – and I ran in to Kathy’s husband Tom! He was gracious enough to let me join him for lunch, and while we were eating I spotted three people I used to work with years ago at the law firm I was at before I moved in to the web design world! Talk about a small world! It was so great to see all the familiar faces, and it made me feel so comfortable – like I was back where I belong.

Been there, done that, wrote the novel. Hey, if they appreciate you, you’ll get the job. That’s what happened to me here at Emory; I was a temp in the area where I worked and they appreciated how much work I put out. Eventually, they made me the computer geek in the office and paid me appropriately. How about that. Hopefully, your lawyers will appreciate you too. Good luck, Chris.

Well, that sounds absolutely wonderful. 😀 It’s like that “Hey, I can fit in here after all” feeling you get the first few weeks of high school or college. 😉 (Since I don’t know any other equivalents yet. 🙂

I’m so glad to hear you found a good job, and relatively quickly. It’s great that you feel comfortable there and will hopefully have fun at what you do. Congrats, and best wishes for a long future with this company if it turns out to be to your liking.
