Hurricane Ivan has been downgraded to a Tropical Depression, but it’s out in the Gulf of Mexico again and is gaining speed – it will probably be upgraded to a Tropical Storm by the time it hits the Texas coast. It’s expected to hit Galveston Island by tomorrow night.
I had a feeling before that Ivan would be heading our way – we didn’t get the brunt of the storm, but with the other front lingering over us I’m afraid we’ll have a repeat of what happened a few years ago from Tropical Storm Allison. After you are hit with 20 inches of rain in 24 hours, you have a healthy respect (or rather fear) of rain coming down again.

Wow, I thought Ivan was dead. It passed over us a few days ago. We had tons of tornadoes in the area and lots of wind and rain.
Oh no … it’s Ivan, Pt. II. I hope it isn’t anywhere near as bad as Allison…
So are you going to ride it out down there if it does come our way? I’m further away than you are (Almeda Mall area). Our neighborhood floods easily, but the houses usually stay dry (except for freak of nature Allison).
Actually, I’m on the northwest side of town, between Willowbrook Mall and Tomball. However, Allison got me all the way up here too – it flooded my car. The flooding is more what I’m worried about!
Has anyone started calling it “Ivan The Terrible”? Scary. Sorry you guys have to go through that.
