Market Research, Round II…

I truly, truly, value your feedback. Right now, I have my portfolio site set up using the a template that I really like. However, it is limited on the number of galleries I can have, and it doesn’t have a calendar on it. I really want unlimited galleries and a calendar. Just recently, a new template was released. I love it. It is called George, which always amuses me.

But just because *I* like it doesn’t mean that the end user would like it. So I want YOUR opinion. Which one do you like better? Why?

As always, your help is GREATLY appreciated!

I like the George template, except for one thing – it’s just slightly wider and longer than my maximized browser on a 1280×1024 screen. Otherwise, I think it’s a great way to show off your photos. Go for it!

I don’t understand…Who is George Medina? There may be a reason I am not in Market Research, ya know. I know you don’t want to hear it, but keep the lowest common denominator in mind – like the person on dialup or on old equipment. Standards and accessibility aren’t sexy, but I like them. I also like everything you have ever done. I am sure you will make the right decision. Are you all better now?

It’s beautiful. I love the music and the wide photos. However, personally it drives me batty when I can control the music or the flow or the action on my screen. I like it as maybe a supplement to a static page? I like to have the option to view each photo as I want–but that’s just me and I’m a control freak. I would love that format — for myself as well — if it wasn’t flash and gave more control to the user.

long time viewer, first time with a comment (i’m a former colleague of mike’s) .. i also prefer the current layout as it gives me the opportunity to view the images at my pace. your work deserves more than the few seconds per image afforded by the new layout.

Julia, George Medina is a made-up name by the design company. And while the portfolio isn’t accessible, the blog is – so while I know all the issues with Flash, I’m still keeping it for that purpose. I have other ways in place for working around it.

Thank you everyone for the feedback – I had not thought as much about the controls, although “George” should have similar ones to choose from thumbnails? After looking at launched versions though, I didn’t see any that I *loved* as much as I liked the sample, so I think I’ll just stay with what I have for now after all and stop thinking about it! LOL!
